Elegaius – Champion Spotlight
As of September 2025, Elegaius received a buff to both active skills – and gained a stronger chance to apply Block Active Skills on the A1. These changes greatly improve the champion’s value for progressing players, making Elegaius more effective against buff heavy waves, capable of locking out enemies based on affinity rather than duplicates, and overall a more well rounded support/control option. In this article, we’ll break down the changes in detail, explore how impactful they can be, and look at the best builds to consider when gearing Elegaius.
WHAT CHANGED?
SPIRITS OF SPITE
The A1 now has an increased chance to apply Block Active Skills – up to 60% when fully booked – which is a strong rate for a default ability. This makes Elegaius especially useful for shutting down Mythical champions in areas like Faction Wars Hard or the Arena, while also serving as a solid skill to prevent targets from using their strongest skills across general content.
DEAD STOP
Aside from heading to the Stages Tool to anticipate the waves you’re facing, you’ll find this ability far more generally useful than before – even in content like the Arena, where you can see the enemy team and decide if Elegaius will be effective based on shared affinities. While it’s not as impactful as a champion like Yumeko, having this on a 3-turn cooldown still makes it great for locking down key enemies in waves and preventing them from gaining buffs. He also serves as a strong option for taking on the Eternal Dragon!
GHOST RAGE
Before the buff, this ability only removed 2 random buffs while reducing the target’s Turn Meter by 20%, plus an additional 10% for each buff removed. While the Turn Meter mechanics remain unchanged, the ability to now remove all buffs significantly boosts its reliability against buff-heavy waves – maximizing both the strip potential and Turn Meter pushback. The one drawback is its 4-turn cooldown, but even so, it’s a strong tool for pushing back enemies, removing their offensive and defensive buffs, and making them much easier to take down.
Controlling Enemies
As a brief demonstration, in the featured image above we took Elegaius into Stage 119 of Hard Doom Tower, where Wave 1 includes three Spirit Affinity enemies. These are the kinds of situations where you’ll need to assess which same affinity enemies pose the biggest threat to your team. In this case, we chose to lock out both Genzins from using their damaging and debuffing active skills, along with Iron Brago, who can otherwise crowd control, debuff, and deal notable damage. Alternatively, we could have opted to shut down Little Miss Annie and Soulless – so it’s all about choosing your targets wisely based on your current team’s vulnerabilities.
This strategy can also be applied in other content such as The Cursed City and Faction Wars. With the skill being on a 3-turn cooldown, you’ll often have it ready in time for the next wave – especially when cooldown reduction is supported by gear sets, masteries, or ally abilities.
If you encounter support enemies that don’t share the same affinity and therefore can’t be locked out, that’s where the A3 comes into play – removing all enemy buffs and pushing back their Turn Meters. The synergy between Elegaius’ two active skills allows for consistent control across waves. And in tougher content like Hard Faction Wars, even the A1’s chance to apply Block Active Skills becomes a valuable tool to ensure Mythicals cannot Metamorph.
Arena
For a progressing player, all the enemy control elements mentioned above can carry over nicely into PvP. One major advantage – especially in Classic or Tag Team Arena – is being able to see the enemy team before entering the battle. This gives you a chance to plan ahead by targeting teams that run multiple champions of the same affinity, allowing you to lock out a good portion of them and prevent key buffs from being applied.
In situations where enemies have mixed affinities or buffs manage to slip through, Elegaius can still bring value. If he’s fast enough, his Block Buffs debuff can stop enemies from gaining key buffs, and he can also strip buffs that do land, thanks to his A3. Combine this with Turn Meter control and his passive self-sustain after taking a fatal hit, and he can be surprisingly tricky for early-to-mid game teams to deal with. While he’s not a top-tier PvP champion, his rework has certainly given him more utility and relevance in Arena battles.
How To Build Elegaius

How you choose to build Elegaius can depend on where you’re planning to use him most, but the core stat priorities remain the same – focus on Speed, HP%, Accuracy, DEF%, and potentially some Resistance to help shrug off incoming debuffs. Let’s take a look at some of the key build options:
- Perception + Speed/Impulse
Ideal for stacking key stat bonuses – SPD & ACC – so you can outpace enemies and land your debuffs. These are also accessible sets, with Perception being forgeable from Faction Wars Bloodstone and from Dragon farming. Impulse is a strong mix-in if available, offering additional Speed and a 12% chance to reduce a random skill cooldown, helping cycle back to abilities more frequently. Alternatively, a full Perception build remains a solid and reliable option. - Relentless + Perception
Grants an 18% chance to gain an Extra Turn, helping you cycle back to the A3 more frequently – useful for removing buffs and pushing back enemy Turn Meters, especially with the skill on a 4-turn cooldown. It’s also useful for rotating through other abilities faster, whether to lock out other affinity-based enemies or apply Block Active Skills more often. - Feral/Pinpoint (PVP)
Both sets provide Speed and Accuracy as their set bonuses scale, but each comes with a unique effect. Feral grants Block Debuffs to the wearer, and helps prevent Polymorph procs. Pinpoint, on the other hand, applies Intercept stacks to help block crowd control effects – greatly improving your chances of getting key skills off if outpaced.
As an honorable mention, you can also consider adding variable sets like Feral or Pinpoint to your accessory slots – offering valuable bonuses to Accuracy and Speed to further support Elgaius’s build.
BEST RELICS:
- Wand of Submission
Provides a chance to reflect crowd control effects back to the producer, while granting bonus HP, Speed, and Accuracy as the Relic is upgraded. A strong defensive option to protect Elegaius from control based enemies. - Perched Shadow
Offers a chance to gain an Extra Turn when using the default attack while other skills are on cooldown – useful for cycling back to his skills more quickly. - Hand of Uncreation
Starts with an Accuracy stat and provides a layer of protection by reducing the chances of enemies applying debuffs, stealing or removing buffs, manipulating Turn Meter, or increasing skill cooldowns against the wearer. It offers a bit of safety if you’re facing fast opponents. - Golden Elixir
An Epic option that synergizes well with Elegaius’ passive, healing the wearer by 10% (up to 20% when fully ranked) when dropping below 50% HP. Since Elegaius already has a built-in prevent-death mechanic that also heals, this Relic adds even more sustain. It also provides Accuracy as a secondary stat.
BEST BLESSINGS:
- Temporal Chains
Decreases each enemy’s SPD based on the number of active buffs they’re under – excluding buffs present at the start of the round. At higher awakening levels, it also reduces their Turn Meter once they reach three buffs. This makes it a strong option for slowing down buff-heavy teams, giving Elegaius a chance to cut in, remove their buffs with his A3, and push them back even further. - Life Harvest
Destroys a portion of each enemy’s MAX HP whenever they’re revived, while also partially filling the wearer’s Turn Meter for each revival. This makes enemies more vulnerable as they’re brought back, and becomes even more impactful at higher blessing ranks – especially useful in PvP or against wave content with multiple revivers. - Polymorph
A strong PvP option that complements Elegaius’ control focused kit. Grants a chance to place Sheep on enemies whenever they attempt to debuff him or remove/steal his buffs – making it especially effective in Arena modes for added disruption. - Chainbreaker
At the start of the wearer’s turn, this blessing offers a chance to remove crowd control effects, with higher awakening levels also granting Turn Meter fill when hit while under control. It adds a layer of RNG-based safety, potentially allowing Elegaius to cut in and get his skills out when it matters most.
