Gnishak Verminlord – Champion Spotlight
Gnishak Verminlord is widely considered one of the strongest Legendary Bomb champions in the game today. His Bombs deal double damage against enemies with more than 200,000 HP, making him incredible for bosses like Bommal. On top of that, his bombs convert into Poisons upon detonation, enabling unique solo compositions in content like Dragon, while also making him a powerhouse in both PvP and PvE encounters.
In today’s article, we’ll cover his best builds, top areas of use, and why Gnishak remains a must build Legendary in 2025.
SKILLS BREAKDOWN!
PESTILENT CENSER
This triple hit random attack has a 50% chance to place Bombs on enemies once booked, making it a key setup skill for the one shot strategy in Bommal when used after his A3. It’s especially effective against single targets, where you can focus the Bombs, but still valuable against multiple enemies to spread extra damage – even in content like Arena. All of Gnishak’s Bombs deal double damage against enemies with 200,000+ HP, so we won’t repeat that across each ability.
VERMINLORD’S COMMAND
This skill is primarily used after the Extra Turn from his A3, allowing him to reduce Bomb durations by 1 turn so they detonate on the enemy’s next move. It also extends the duration of any Poisons to keep them ticking longer, while applying Decrease Attack to cut down the damage your team takes.
UNCLEAN BANQUET
This is the signature Bomb skill in Gnishak’s kit, placing Bombs on all enemies and granting him an Extra Turn. What you choose to follow up with depends on the encounter – for example, against Bommal you’ll typically lead with his A1 to stack more Bombs before the boss’s turn, while in wave content or Arena you’ll often use his A2 to shorten Bomb timers and detonate them faster.
RAT PLAGUE [P]
This is where the Poison aspect of his kit shines – every time one of his Bombs detonates or is removed, he places two 5% Poison debuffs on the target. This adds a powerful layer of damage over time to follow up his Bomb detonations, making him especially effective in encounters like Dragon.
BOMMAL THE DREADHORN
Bomb debuffs are a natural counter to Bommal, thanks to his Pressure Wave passive causing him to take 300% more damage from them. When combined with Gnishak’s Bombs – which already deal double damage against high-HP enemies – it enabled the first true “one-shot” strategy for a boss that many players struggle with.
The core team idea is to use one or more Ally Attackers to go before Gnishak, triggering the Bombs from his A1 and applying Weaken from an ally’s default skill to boost the damage even further. Arbiter is a perfect fit here, with her A1 Weaken and Increase ATK to maximize Bomb damage. After the setup, Gnishak loads up additional Bombs before Bommal takes his first turn, while a damage dealer clears the waves to ensure your key allies can preserve their cooldowns for the boss phase.
BUILDING A ‘ONE SHOT’ TEAM
TEAM PRESET
Your chosen damage dealer for clearing waves plays a big role in speed runs, though depending on your team, a mix of default attacks from your allies may be enough. The main priority is making sure all key allies have their cooldowns ready for the boss phase so you can set up properly before the boss gets a turn.
For full auto runs, lock off key allies’ skills with presets during waves 1 and 2, and speed tune your team in the order you want them acting when the boss round begins (we’ll break this down next). If you’re running manually just to secure a clear, you can sometimes get by without a prime damage dealer, but be sure any active skills used are back off cooldown before heading into the boss.
SLOT 1
Gnishak Verminlord is best placed in the lead to maximize his Attack Aura, though if you’re struggling to hit the speed requirement (the boss sits at 250 Speed here), a Speed Aura is a solid alternative. Having him up front is also valuable when running multiple A1 debuffers, as it ensures he gets the first opportunity to stack his Bombs. Gnishak should run at no less than 220 Speed if you have a 30% Turn Meter boost from an ally. If not, adjust his Speed to align with the Turn Meter support your team provides. For his active skills, lock out the A2 and prioritize using the A3 and A1 against the boss.
SLOT 2
A champion like Arbiter is a great fit – not only does she apply Weaken on her A1 to amplify Bomb damage, but she also brings Increase ATK to boost it even further. This setup ensures Gnishak can cut in before the boss, even at lower speeds, giving him the chance to land his key abilities in time.
SLOTS 3&4
Here, you’ll want to run either two different Ally Attack champions or double up on the same one to bring in all allies for their skills. This maximizes the chances of placing Bombs from Gnishak’s A1 & Arbiter’s Weaken – just make sure they’re tuned faster than Gnishak but slower than Arbiter, so the Increase ATK buff is active first. Depending on how high your Gnishak’s Attack stats are, you might manage with just one Ally Attacker, but running two is the safer option to reliably stack at least 7-8 Bombs on the boss before he takes a turn.
SLOT 5
This slot is a flex spot, best filled by a damage dealer to handle the waves. With enemies like Khoronar and other strong hitters in the mix, it’s important to clear them quickly so your key allies don’t get picked off before the boss fight. A dedicated wave clearer also makes full-auto runs smoother, allowing you to lock off your team’s key skills for the boss phase while your damage dealer carries the wave segment.
Arena
Gnishak is incredibly strong across all Arena modes and is often the go-to Bomb option for players who don’t have access to the powerhouse Komidus, a Mythical champion. One of his best builds is with Stoneskin and Pinpoint, giving him an Intercept stack and a Stoneskin buff at the start of the round. This setup protects him from being instantly controlled or nuked, allowing him to unleash his A3-A2 combo to take down tough enemies.
This strategy works especially well against tanky targets or champions hiding under Stoneskin buffs, and with the right build, Gnishak can even wipe out entire teams in a single sequence if his debuffs land. While he can be countered by champions like Marichka or teams running Block Debuffs, he remains a fantastic Arena pick – especially against opponents unprepared for his bomb damage.
SOLO DUNGEONS
For progressing players looking for a reliable solo champion in Dungeon encounters, Gnishak can be a powerhouse when built in a Regeneration set with high RES, ACC, Speed, and tankiness. His strength comes not only from Bomb detonations but also from his A2 applying Decrease ATK to reduce incoming damage, while any Bombs that detonate or are removed convert into Poisons for steady damage over time.
This setup allows him to quickly clear enemy waves on the way to the boss and is especially effective in Dragon, Ice Golem (Normal), and Minotaur, letting you farm gear while leveling food champions simultaneously. It can also work in other PvE areas like Cursed City and Faction Wars, though for content outside this niche we recommend shifting to a high ATK offensive build instead.

How To Build Gnishak Verminlord

The type of build you choose for Gnishak can vary depending on where you plan to use him, but the core stat priorities remain the same. Focus on stacking his ATK as high as possible, while maintaining enough Speed and Accuracy to outpace enemies and land debuffs against high-RES targets. Here are a few standout build options to consider:
- Pinpoint + Stoneskin
This setup lets you start the round with both an Intercept stack and a Stoneskin buff, giving Gnishak protection against crowd control attempts and preventing him from being instantly wiped if the enemy outspeeds you. Pinpoint also provides extra ACC and SPD to further enhance his build, while Stoneskin adds valuable sustain. It’s a top tier PvP setup – though if you don’t have Pinpoint, Perception is a solid alternative. - Cruel + Perception
This is a more accessible option for progressing players, but still very effective. It provides bonus SPD and ACC to help you outpace enemies and land debuffs, while the Cruel set adds extra ATK to boost damage. Combined, these sets cover all the key stats you want for Gnishak. - Merciless
The set bonuses here are excellent, offering plenty of ATK%, Ignore DEF, a chance to reduce a random skill cooldown, and even a 15% chance for an Extra Turn if you’ve unlocked the full 9-piece bonus. This setup helps you cycle turns more often, making your Bombs and raw damage hit even harder, while also providing extra SPD to keep you ahead of your enemies. - Regeneration
This setup is geared more toward players progressing through Dungeons who want a reliable solo champion to clear stages. With a fast, tanky, high-RES build, Gnishak’s Bombs converting into Poisons makes quick work of waves and bosses. Pairing this with Perception is recommended to boost his ACC and SPD further.
As an honorable mention, you can also consider adding variable sets like Feral or Pinpoint to your accessory slots – offering valuable bonuses to Accuracy and Speed to further support Gnishak Verminlord’s build.
BEST RELICS:
- Wand of Submission
Provides a chance to reflect crowd control effects back to the producer, while granting bonus HP, Speed, and Accuracy as the Relic is upgraded. A strong defensive option to protect Gnishak from control based enemies. - Infernal Polytope
In situations where Gnishak survives an attack and drops below 15% HP, all of his skill cooldowns are reset. If you’ve already placed Bombs but didn’t finish off the enemies, this gives you another chance to reapply them once he hits that threshold. Even if he doesn’t cut in before dying, he’ll be able to open with his A3 again as soon as he’s revived. - Hand of Uncreation
Starts with an Accuracy stat and provides a layer of protection by reducing the chances of enemies applying debuffs, stealing or removing buffs, manipulating Turn Meter, or increasing skill cooldowns against the wearer. It offers a bit of safety if you’re facing fast opponents. - Moondeath Orchid
Since Gnishak scales with Attack, this blessing allows him to deal pure damage equal to 20% of his ATK to enemies that resist his debuffs. Against high-RES targets where some Bombs may fail to land, this serves as a reliable source of backup damage. The blessing also comes with an ATK main stat, further boosting his overall damage output.
- Arachnelixir
This is a niche but highly effective Relic for Gnishak, as it synergizes perfectly with his Bombs converting into Poisons after detonation or removal. It causes his Poisons to deal bonus damage equal to 50% of his ATK, making it great for finishing off enemies who survive the initial Bomb burst.
BEST BLESSINGS:
- Temporal Chains
Decreases each enemy’s SPD based on the number of active buffs they’re under – excluding buffs present at the start of the round. At higher awakening levels, it also reduces their Turn Meter once they reach three buffs. This makes it a strong option for slowing down buff-heavy teams, giving Gnishak a chance to cut in & use his abilities. - Life Harvest
Destroys a portion of each enemy’s MAX HP whenever they’re revived, while also partially filling the wearer’s Turn Meter for each revival. This makes enemies more vulnerable as they’re brought back, and becomes even more impactful at higher blessing ranks – especially useful in PvP or against wave content with multiple revivers. - Polymorph
A strong PvP option that grants a chance to place Sheep on enemies whenever they attempt to debuff him or remove/steal his buffs – making it especially effective in Arena modes for added disruption. - Brimstone
For progressing players using Gnishak in boss encounters like the Demon Lord, Smite is a strong option. It deals bonus damage equal to 25% of the target’s MAX HP when they use an active skill, providing a reliable way to push out additional damage against high HP bosses.

Gnishak is my most desired champion in the game, even over Mythicals!
I think it’s crazy ya’ll can recommend Cruel+Perception on Gnishak but Feral is an honorable mention? What is your reasoning here? I would say that Feral would always be better
9pc Feral is excellent for gnishak
