How To 3 Star The Final Stage Of Nightmare Campaign!

So you’ve battled your way through the Nightmare Campaign, only to face the powerful Mortu Macaab in the final stage. His devastating secret skill can wipe out an ally in an instant, making the quest for 3-star completion a daunting challenge. To succeed, you must conquer this stage with just 2 or fewer champions in under 10 minutes, without losing a single ally. The key to victory lies in forming a duo capable of handling the waves, the boss, and his minions, all while avoiding the most common fail condition: triggering Mortu’s Fiery Rage passive. This passive gives him a 20% chance to unlock his Secret Skill when hit, allowing him to unleash a single-target nuke that ignores Shield and Block Damage buffs, bypasses the target’s defence, and blocks revives. In today’s article, we’ll highlight the top 3 strategies to tackle this stage and secure your final reward.

Don’t Trigger The Secret Skill!

Why deal with the passive when you can avoid it altogether? This strategy revolves around using a strong support champion, like Scyl of the Drakes, who all players receive for free, paired with an ally who can “place” Poison debuffs without needing to hit the boss. For instance, Dark Kael, obtainable through Secret Room fragments, can place 3 Poison debuffs on a target along with Poison Sensitivity. This allows you to safely apply debuffs each time it’s available, while using his A1 to focus on the minions during its cooldown. Combined with a champion like Scyl, who provides revivals and strong crowd control, this approach ensures your duo can make it to the end of the battle.

If you don’t have a champion who can place Poison debuffs without hitting, you might consider those who apply it on hit, though there’s always a 20% chance of triggering the passive. A solid example is Venomage, whose passive reduces incoming damage when an enemy is under a Heal Reduction debuff. Venomage also applies 2 Poison debuffs with a single hit. A few cycles of this attack, with a bit of RNG on your side, could lead to a successful run, especially since Venomage’s Magic affinity gives her a chance receive weak hits from the boss.

Here are some additional standout Poison champions to consider:

TOMB LORD

This powerful champion from the Knights Revenant, Tomb Lord, can place 4 Poison debuffs on all enemies, provided the initial attack is critical (A2). By targeting one of the minions, you can apply these Poisons to the boss without directly hitting him. Tomb Lord also offers strong utility with his A3, which places Decrease Attack and Defence on enemies, helping you clear waves faster and take less damage. Additionally, his A3 can decrease the Turn Meter of enemies under 50% HP by 100%. In the final moments of the battle, if the boss’s minions are down, this ability can prevent the boss from attacking, giving you the upper hand to finish him off.

UROGRIM

Urogrim in the Ogryn Faction Summon Pool Event

Urogrim from the Ogryn Tribes can place 2 Poison debuffs on all enemies while applying a 15% Continuous Heal on allies with his A3 – a great combination for both dealing damage to the waves and boss while keeping your team’s health topped up. His A2 provides a powerful cleanse and heal to a single target, which is great in clutch moments when a champion is close to dying. Additionally, he offers a universal 20% Speed aura, and his A1 can apply more Poisons in the final moments of taking down Mortu.

Guurda Bogbrew

As long as you avoid using Guurda’s A2 to attack all enemies and potentially trigger the boss’s passive, she offers a strong kit for this encounter. Her A3 places 2 Poison debuffs on enemies and removes 2 debuffs from allies, while her passive reduces enemy Turn Meters each time they receive a debuff. This combination is excellent for taking down waves and the boss, cleansing harmful effects like Block Buffs, and cycling your skills more efficiently by manipulating Turn Meters. If the minions aren’t under Weaken, her A1 will reduce their Turn Meter by 10% instead of spreading debuffs.

KALVALAX

Kalvalax has a unique passive that automatically places 4 Poison debuffs on all enemies at the start of each round, with a 50% chance to place an additional Poison on subsequent turns. While you’ll need some luck to consistently apply these extra Poisons, starting with 4 is a significant advantage. Though attacking the boss carries the risk of triggering Peril, if the 20% chance doesn’t activate, you can use Kalvalax’s A2 Enemy Max HP nuke to deal substantial damage or his A1 to extend the duration of existing Poisons.

TEODOR

While this champion’s A1 attacks all enemies and could potentially trigger Peril, his other skills are incredibly effective for quickly taking down the boss. His A2 places two 5% Poison debuffs on all enemies while also applying an Increase Speed buff. When paired with his A3, which extends the duration of those Poisons and instantly detonates them, you can deal massive damage in a short amount of time. With the right masteries or artifact sets to reset cooldowns, you might not even need to use the A1, avoiding the risk of triggering the secret skill altogether.

Paragon Strategy

This strategy revolves around using the Rare champion Paragon, who can place an Unkillable buff on an ally for 2 turns, with a 2-turn cooldown. To ensure that all attacks are directed at Paragon, make sure he’s the weaker of the two champions in terms of gear and stats, especially if using a champion with the negative affinity to Mortu. The key challenge with this strategy is manually controlling the fight. You must place Paragon’s Unkillable buff on himself to survive incoming hits, ensuring you don’t waste the skill before each round so it’s not on cooldown when you need it. Paragon should be faster than the enemies you’re facing, and we recommend having him at over 200 Speed to cycle his skills efficiently. As you approach the boss, keep in mind that he is accompanied by two allies, including Cruetraxa, who can remove buffs from an enemy. To prevent your Unkillable buff from being stripped, ensure Paragon has above 105 Resistance to avoid this and save you from having to repeat the run. This is also crucial for countering the Block Buffs debuff from the boss.

When choosing an ally to pair with Paragon for taking down the enemies, consider champions with self-healing or protective abilities to withstand hits, or those with crowd control effects like Stun to prevent incoming attacks. Miscreated Monster is an excellent choice – he has a favourable affinity against the boss, can heal himself, and provides crowd control while dealing damage to the waves. Alternatively, you could equip your chosen champion with Lifesteal gear, allowing them to heal themselves through the damage they deal. Lastly, remember that this is a race against time, so focus on attacking the boss rather than clearing out his minions first. Having the Warmaster mastery will also help you take down the boss more quickly.

Dominate The Stage In The Late Game!

So you’re in the late game, or you’ve got the gear and champions to nuke this stage quickly, but maybe you forgot to finish off the final stage for that Sacred Shard? This section is for you! Whether you’re inflicting the surplus damage output of Sun Wukong, reducing the boss’s ignore Defence effect with Harima’s passive, or tanking hits with Duchess Lilitu, there are plenty of champions capable of dominating this stage. Just make sure your team can withstand the waves if you’re running with two damage dealers, and if not, bring a strong support unit to keep your Nukers alive. If you can’t kill the boss quickly enough, there’s always the risk of triggering the Peril passive, so be sure to bring top-tier champions with the right affinities to take down the boss and its minions. You can find some duo team examples above.

I don’t have any of these champs so I saw an old video from HH where he used Ninja to clear the stage, so I went with Ninja and Scyl and it took a couple of tries but it worked lol. Would say you can replace scyl with doompriest or any passive healers/ shield champs if you dont have scyl. And put a bolster set on the healer helps alot.
