Top 10 Solo Champions For The Scarab King!

So, you’re making your way through the Doom Tower and now find yourself face to face with the Scarab King. But you’re wondering, is there any champion powerful enough to take him down solo? In today’s article, we’ll highlight the top 10 champions capable of defeating the Scarab King on any stage and difficulty, along with how they can do it. While traditional strategies involve using Shield buffs to block the boss’s counterattacks, Turn Meter reduction to prevent him from taking a turn, and skills or Destroy sets to chip away at his Max HP Shield, a solo strategy can be a great option. It’s less gear intensive than building an entire team, allowing you to conserve resources and free up champions for other content.

Today’s picks will focus on champions capable of defeating the boss with Poisons, equipped with the appropriate gear sets and utilising their self sustaining abilities, as well as champions who can gradually break the boss’s Shield. You can also bring allies to help clear the waves, then let them fall once you reach the boss stage. Be sure to check out the full boss guide or use the Stages Tool to find the stats needed to land debuffs on the boss or resist his effects. Additionally, you can check out our Solo Borgoth Guide, or use the Team Optimiser to explore other available options.

UROST THE SOULCAGE

Urost is the second Legendary champion obtainable by collecting fragments from Secret Rooms in the Hard Doom Tower. His passive is great for soloing the boss, offering a 75% chance when fully booked to place a Poison debuff on the enemy when attacked. Additionally, his Max HP increases by up to 50% as Poison debuffs trigger, making him harder to take down as the fight progresses. Urost should be equipped with a Regeneration set, high HP, and sufficient accuracy to ensure his Poisons land. He can also be built with low speed, as his damage mainly comes from being attacked rather than from his own hits.

MITHRALA LIFEBANE

What makes this champion so effective for this role is not only the ability to place two Poisons with an A1, steadily wearing down the boss, but also self sustaining through a Shield and Strengthen buff [A3]. The passive increases her resistance based on her accuracy, reducing the chance of the boss removing buffs. Mithrala should be equipped with Regeneration & Immortal gear to maintain health. We recommend using a Bloodshield accessory for extra protection when the Shield wears off or at high HP, allowing more frequent use of her A1. However, it’s possible to succeed without it if Mithrala’s stats are strong enough.

TOMB LORD

As a Spirit Affinity champion, Tomb Lord is an excellent choice for tackling different affinities across various rotations. His standout skill is the A2, which places 4 Poison debuffs on an enemy when he lands a critical hit. His A2 is crucial for wearing down the boss, while his A3 applies Decrease Attack to reduce incoming damage and Decrease Defence to boost your own. He also applies a Decrease Speed to slow the boss, giving you more chances to cycle through your skills. It’s recommended to equip Tomb Lord with Regeneration gear, enough Accuracy/Resistance and Speed, and a Bloodshield accessory to prevent the boss’s counterattacks.

TORAGI THE FROG

Toragi is an excellent choice for soloing Borgoth, particularly when Borgoth is Spirit Affinity, as the gear requirements become tougher when facing Force Affinity due to the strong hits. Toragi’s Passive has a 50% chance to place Poisons when hit, much like Urost, making him effective for this role. To gear Toragi for soloing, equip him with Regeneration gear, focusing on enough Resistance to block the boss’s buff removals and debuffs, along with sufficient Accuracy to land his own. His Aura helps reduce Resistance requirements, and a Bloodshield accessory can prevent the boss’s counterattacks. Additionally, Toragi can heal himself for extra sustain and applies Decrease Attack to reduce incoming damage.

GNISHAK VERMINLORD

Although RNG can play a role against Spirit Affinity, Gnishak remains a powerful option against Force. His strength lies in his passive, which replaces each detonated Bomb debuff with two Poison debuffs. With both his A1 and A2 capable of placing Bombs, Gnishak ensures a steady flow of Poisons, and his Decrease Attack A2 will reduce the damage he receives. To maximize his effectiveness, equip him with Regeneration gear, a Bloodshield accessory, and sufficient Accuracy. If his Decrease Attack is essential for survival, make sure he has enough Resistance to avoid being constantly Provoked.

MYCILIAC PRIEST ORN

This poisonous member of the Sylvan Watchers is a solid Epic to consider if you lack stronger options. His A3 offers a 75% chance, once booked, to place two Poisons and a Poison Sensitivity debuff, while healing himself by 1% for each Poison placed. His A1 complements this by adding more Poisons with a lower chance per hit, and his A2 can detonate them. Each activation increases his HP and DEF stats by up to 25%, helping to sustain him throughout the fight. Equip Myciliac with Regeneration gear, a Bloodshield accessory, and sufficient Accuracy and Resistance for the stage you’re facing.

SKULL LORD VAR-GALL

Skull Lord Var-Gall became a strong solo option for Borgoth after his Passive was buffed to destroy Max HP against bosses. This change allows him to quickly break Borgoth’s shield by destroying their Max HP each time he’s attacked, making Skull Lord ideal for soloing. To keep him alive, equip a Regeneration Set, a Bloodshield accessory, and focus on high HP and Defence. To take down the boss faster, the Giant Slayer Mastery is recommended. Additionally, Skull Lord doesn’t require books to effectively solo this boss.

VERGIS

Vergis stands out as one of the most durable Epic Champions, making him an excellent budget-friendly choice for soloing Borgoth. His Passive grants a Shield whenever he loses 10% HP from an attack, effectively preventing Borgoth from chaining A1 attacks, while the Continuous Heal buff helps keep him alive throughout the fight. Since Vergis doesn’t deal much damage, it’s crucial to equip him with a 4 piece Destroy or Toxic Set to ensure the boss is defeated before the turn limit. Make sure Vergis has enough Accuracy and Resistance for the stage you’re facing, a 2-piece Immortal set for extra sustain, and note that Bloodshield is not required.

Conellia

Conellia is often overlooked but shines as a solo champion against Borgoth. Her A3 instantly fills her Turn Meter and heals her by 100% when her Sleep debuff is removed by damage, making survival much easier. To be effective, Conellia needs enough Resistance to block the boss’s debuffs, along with sufficient Speed, high HP, and strong Defence stats. Since her damage output is low and she has limited attacks, equipping Conellia with a 4-piece Toxic set is crucial for defeating Borgoth within the turn limit. While Bloodshield accessories aren’t necessary, they are recommended for a smoother run. Additionally, disable her A2 and prioritize using only her A1 and A3.

CORVIS THE CORRUPTER

Corvis is one of the strongest options for soloing the boss. His A3 can apply four Poison debuffs along with Poison Sensitivity, a rare ability that few champions can match. Combined with his A2, which extends the duration of debuffs, this ensures they stay active longer. Corvis’ passive reduces incoming damage by up to 25% [5% for each Poison debuff], and his A1 further mitigates damage by applying Decrease Attack. Equip Corvis with Regeneration gear, a Bloodshield accessory, and sufficient Accuracy and Resistance for the stage you’re facing. Additionally, his 30% Defence Aura provides extra sustain for your build.
