PICKING THE TRAIL – Campaign Breakdown
Picking the Trail is another campaign section where routes branch into multiple paths, offering different encounters and objectives depending on the direction you choose.
By this point, your roster should be expanding beyond the starting Hunters. Many players will have picked up their first Legendary or a few strong Epic Hunters, giving more flexibility for the faction and team restriction objectives found throughout these stages.
Progression Overview
The difficulty steadily increases throughout Picking the Trail, with more restrictive objectives such as ally limits, faction requirements, and class restrictions becoming common.
Robin is especially useful during several encounters, so investing in him early can make progression much smoother. If certain objectives feel difficult, you can always return later once your Hunters and gear improve.
Route Overview
After Gloomy Copse, the campaign splits into two routes:
- Upper Fork Route
- Babbling Brook Route
The Babbling Brook route branches multiple times, leading toward encounters such as Muddy Pond, Beasts of the Void, Sunless Path, and The Order.
Different routes favor different team styles, so choosing paths that suit your roster can make progression easier while working toward full completion.
Barren Wood

This is one of the first encounters in Picking the Trail and introduces you to the Void-infested forest paths ahead.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win with no defeated allies
⭐⭐⭐ Win using Seasoned allies only
Overview:
A simple opening encounter against basic Void enemies. Your starter Seasoned allies can comfortably handle this fight, making it easy to secure all three stars on your first attempt.
Gloomy Copse

This battle is encountered by following the path forward from Barren Wood. Completing this stage unlocks two separate routes: Upper Fork or Babbling Brook.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win in 30 turns or less
⭐⭐⭐ Win using Archlands allies only
Overview:
This stage rewards aggressive play and fast clears. Focus on burst damage and efficient turn usage to comfortably finish within the turn limit while meeting the faction restriction.
Upper Fork

This battle is encountered by taking the upper route after Gloomy Copse.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win using Robin
⭐⭐⭐ Win without using Attacker allies
Overview:
Robin is mandatory for one objective, while the no-Attacker restriction encourages using Support and Defender allies to slowly control the fight. Robin provides enough damage to carry the run safely.
Order Patrol

This battle is encountered by continuing forward from Upper Fork.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Defeat 3 enemies in a single turn
⭐⭐⭐ Win using Seasoned allies only
Overview:
The key challenge is lining up a multi-kill turn. Save AoE abilities and weaken enemies evenly before finishing them together to secure the second star objective.
Enclosed Glen

This battle is encountered by continuing deeper along the Upper Fork route after Order Patrol.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win using Robin
⭐⭐⭐ Win without using Support allies
Overview:
Without Supports, survivability becomes more important. Bring durable allies and rely on Robin for consistent ranged damage while carefully managing health throughout the encounter.
Babbling Brook

This battle is encountered by taking the lower route after Gloomy Copse. Completing this stage unlocks the Muddy Pond route or the Beasts of the Void route.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win using max. 4 allies
⭐⭐⭐ Win using max. 2 allies
Overview:
This encounter tests your ability to clear efficiently with a reduced team size. Strong carries and durable frontline allies perform best here, especially if attempting the difficult two-allies clear for all stars.
Muddy Pond

This battle is encountered by following the swamp route after Babbling Brook. Completing this stage unlocks the A Challenging Foe route or the Sunless Path route.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win using at least 3 Attacker allies
⭐⭐⭐ Win using max. 3 allies
Overview:
Balancing both restrictions can be tricky. Use three strong Attackers with good sustain or crowd control to finish the fight quickly before incoming damage overwhelms your smaller team.
A Challenging Foe

This battle is encountered by taking the upper route after Muddy Pond.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win in 30 turns or less
⭐⭐⭐ Win using Seasoned allies only
Overview:
This battle introduces tougher elite enemies with increased durability. Maintain steady pressure and focus targets carefully to avoid wasting turns against the stronger frontline units.
Sunless Path

This battle is encountered by taking the lower route after Muddy Pond and leads onward toward The Order.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win with no defeated allies
⭐⭐⭐ Win using max. 4 allies
Overview:
A survival-focused stage where positioning and sustain matter more than raw damage. Using four high-quality allies is usually safer than attempting a risky low-team clear.
The Order

This battle is encountered by continuing forward from Sunless Path. Completing this stage unlocks either the Pyre Ambush route or the Trampled Clearing route.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win using Robin
⭐⭐⭐ Win using Human allies only
Overview:
Robin remains valuable here thanks to his ranged damage and utility. Human teams naturally fit this stage well, making the third objective easier if your roster is developed.
Pyre Ambush

This battle is encountered by taking the upper route after The Order.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win using Robin
⭐⭐⭐ Win without using Archlands allies
Overview:
Avoiding Archlands allies limits some strong ranged options, so focus on balanced frontline units and sustained damage dealers while Robin handles priority targets.
Trampled Clearing

This battle is encountered by taking the lower route after The Order.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win using Galen
⭐⭐⭐ Win without using Healer allies
Overview:
Without Healers, mitigation and crowd control become extremely important. Galen helps stabilize the fight while durable allies and efficient damage prevent the battle from dragging on.
Beasts of the Void

This battle is encountered by taking the alternate route after Babbling Brook instead of heading toward Muddy Pond.
Objectives:
⭐ Win the battle
⭐⭐ Win in 10 turns or less
⭐⭐⭐ Win using Archlands allies only
Overview:
A speed-focused encounter that heavily rewards burst damage. Bring your strongest Archlands damage dealers and prioritize eliminating enemies before they can stabilize the fight.
