10 Great Epic Champions for the Chimera

In this guide we break down our top 10 epic champions for the new Chimera Clan Boss in Raid: Shadow Legends.

The Chimera is the newest boss in the game and will present a huge challenge for players from beginners to veterans. Perform well, however, and fantastic rewards await which can’t be earned anywhere else, such as the new game-changing Chimera Relics and an exclusive Mythical Champion, Embrys the Anomaly.

Check out Hellhades’ and Nub Raids’ epic only teams for Brutal difficulty to see some of the champions on this list put into action!

1. Geomancer (Damage)

Geomancer returns once again as an MVP for another boss! Not only does he do top tier damage, he is easy to build, makes your team more tanky, and brings a ton of utility that helps control the fight and even complete Trials.

  • Why He’s Great:
  • Build Tip: Focus on survivability and speed with enough accuracy to ensure debuffs land.

2. Whisper (Damage)

Whisper Portrait v2

Whisper has the potential to be the best epic damage dealer for this fight if you have strong gear. She’s void affinity as well, so she will stand strong against every rotation of the Chimera. Her self-buff Increase Attack and Increase Crit Rate make it easy to set up your team for Trials and her extra turns will add up over a long fight.

  • Why She’s Great:
    • Boss Slayer: extra turns and huge single-target damage make her ideal for sustained fights.
    • Consistent Weaken on A1 and self-buffs on her A2.
  • Build Tip: Pair with a champion like Lydia the Deathsiren to maintain Decrease Defence and Weaken uptime for Whisper’s A3.

3. Fenax (Damage)

Fenax brings incredible damage on his A1 and some unreliable but helpful debuffs on his A2 and A3. His damage will scale incredibly high if paired with Counter-attack or Ally Attack champions. Use his A2 and A3 if needed for their debuffs, otherwise prioritise his A1 over them for raw damage.

  • Why He’s Great:
  • Build Tip: Equip Fenix for maximum damage and speed to cycle his abilities. Make sure to bring other champions with Increase Attack for him.

4. Morag Bronzelock (Damage)

Morag is the best defence-based damage dealing epic for this fight. Thanks to her high DEF she will be much tankier than other damage dealers and can help counter the Lion Form (quite literally) with her passive. Her ally attack will do good damage and make any A1 effects from your team more reliable. Finally, and most importantly, she is still the only epic in the game to bring a 2-turn 25% Strengthen buff for your team on a 3-turn cooldown.

  • Why She’s Great:
    • High single-target damage with her ally attack A3, making A1 debuffs more consistent.
    • Brings Stengthen on her A2, providing fantastic utility to keep your team alive.
  • Build Tip: Equip Morag for maximum damage and speed. An Increase Defence buff is needed for top damage.

5. Skathix (Support)

Skathix has emerged as an amazing budget option to deal with multiple forms of the Chimera. His A2 can steal the Increase Speed buff off the Ultimate Form, neutralizing that ability. His A3 is incredible, cleansing your team then placing Shield and Block Debuffs. This can hard counter the Ultimate Form’s A1 and the entire Viper Form (make sure to save his A3 until after the Viper does his A3). Decrease Speed on his A1 is top tier utility, and his passive can enable him to survive as a Ram Form tank with Block Damage if you make him the Duel target by building him with the lowest Crit Damage on your team.

  • Why He’s Great:
    • Brings a full team cleanse with Block Debuffs on his A3, countering the Viper Form.
    • His passive can enable him to tank and survive the Ram Form’s Duel.
  • Build Tip: Build in protection or reflex gear to enhance his buffs. High resistance can ensure he resists the boss and can survive to protect your team.

6. Tagoar (Support)

Tagoar is one of the best epic revivers for this boss, bringing plenty of team healing and Increase Speed on his A2. His A1 and passive help keep your champions alive when they need it most and his full team revive can help you recover in worst case scenarios. Consider building him in high resistance or the Chainbreaker blessing to protect him from debuffs and crowd control from the Chimera.

  • Why He’s Great:
    • A1 applies Increase Defence to the lowest HP ally, protecting squishy champions when they need it.
    • Revive ability that doubles as a shield for extra utility.
  • Build Tip: Build in regeneration, reflex, or protection gear to maximize healing and support. High HP, speed and resistance are all important stats to aim for.

7. Lady Annabelle (Support)

Lady Annabelle is one of the most underrated champions in the game. She brings both Increase Speed and Decrease Speed in her kit, which are very difficult to find amongst epics (and are essential for the Chimera!). On top of that her Leech debuff and Revive-on-death buffs are also very rare and can help you survive against the Ram Form and complete niche Trials.

  • Why She’s Great:
    • Brings both Increase Speed and Decrease Speed on a single epic champion.
    • Her supportive abilites can help you survive against the high damage forms.
  • Build Tip: Build her with good speed and accuracy to maximise her speed and supportive potential.

8. Stag Knight (Debuffs)

The GOAT of epic debuffers, Stag Knight returns once again to be top tier for a boss. Decrease Attack, Decrease Defence, and Decrease Speed are the three most important debuffs for this boss and that’s exactly what he brings in his kit. He can also do pretty decent damage to boot if you give him some crit rate and the warmaster mastery.

9. Ruella (Debuffs)

If Stag Knight is the old epic debuffer GOAT, Ruella is the new one. She brings Decrease Defence, Weaken, and Decrease Speed, which are key to squeezing out as much damage as possible against the boss. She also boosts turn meter and provides Increase Crit Rate, allowing to build teams with lower crit–just watch out not to put it up if the Viper Form will steal it or you’ll be in for a world of hurt.

  • Why She’s Great:
    • Brings Decrease Defence, Weaken, and Decrease Speed on her A2.
    • A flexible triple-hitter who supports crit rate boosts and turn meter.
  • Build Tip: Build her with plenty of speed to compensate for the long cooldown on her A2.

10. Fahrakin the Fat (Debuffs)

If you want to complete Trials you’re going to need a ton of different debuffs and effects, and that’s what Fahrakin the Fat brings to this fight in spades. He brings both Poison and HP Burn, which are essential for certain Trials, alongside an (almost) full team Ally Attack with Increase Crit Rate and Increase Crit Damage. His Decrease Defence A1 is handy as well but isn’t reliable enough to be the main source for your team.

  • Why He’s Great:
    • Brings Decrease Defence, HP Burn, Poison, Ally Attack, Increase Crit Rate, and Increase Crit Damage in one kit.
    • Will boost your team’s damage substantially.
  • Build Tip: Build him fast! Unlike Fire Knight, where you might not need accuracy, build enough for this fight for extra damage and Trials.

I think mausoleum mage is also a great option, he just struggles because his block debuffs is only one turn
