Best Champions from the Fusion Token System in RAID: Shadow Legends

RAID: Shadow Legends recently introduced the Fusion Token system, and it’s one of those updates that can seriously impact how players approach future fusions. Instead of simply completing every fusion as it comes, players now have the option to swap a current fusion for a previous one using tokens.

But here’s the catch: tokens are limited, and choosing the wrong champion could set you back months.

So in this guide, we’ll break down how the Fusion Token system works, the best champions to prioritize, and a few tips that can help you make the most of this new feature.

How the Fusion Token System Works

At its core, the system rewards players with Fusion Tokens whenever they complete a classic fusion.

However, there are a few important rules to understand.

You earn tokens only from certain fusions

Tokens are awarded when you complete:

  • Classic fusions (fusing 16 rares, into 4 epics, into 1 legendary)

  • Mixed fusions (fusing 400 epic fragments, into 4 epics, into 1 legendary)

But you won’t receive tokens from fragment-only fusions, like the recent Noldua the Gloaming fusion.

Tokens allow you to swap fusions

Once you collect enough tokens, you can replace the current fusion champion with a past one from the token shop.

The cost works like this:

  • Tier 3 champions: 1 token

  • Tier 2 champions: 2 tokens

  • Tier 1 champions: 3 tokens

However, there’s an important detail many players miss.

If you swap a fusion using tokens, you do not earn a token from completing that fusion. That means the real cost is effectively one token higher (if you would have completed the original fusion anyway).

For example:

  • A 3-token champion effectively costs 4 tokens total, because you lose the token you would have earned.

  • A 1-token champion effectively costs 2 tokens total, because you lose the token you would have earned.

A Smart Strategy: Stockpile Tokens First

Because tokens are limited, it’s a good idea to build up a reserve so you are prepared to swap in the best possible champion when a bad fusion is released. Fusions are usually pretty decent these days, but there’s likely to be one eventually that wouldn’t help your account as much as a Fabian, for example.

It’s also worth being prepared in case something unexpected happens, such as pulling a given fusion from a shard towards the end of a fusion event. There is also no pattern to when Plarium will do a good vs bad fusion, or when they will do a fragment fusion vs a traditional one.

Having tokens ready gives you flexibility when opportunities appear.

The Best Fusion Champions to Target

While there are many champions available in the system, realistically most players will only redeem one or two per year. With fragment fusions (which are not part of this system) making up many of the fusions per year, it will likely take 6+ months to earn 3 tokens and then find a fusion slot worth swapping out for.

That means you should focus only on the absolute best champion options with your Fusion Tokens.

Here are the standout choices.

SS Tier – The Must-Pick Champions

These champions provide huge value on almost every account and are the safest picks.

Lord Entertainer Fabian – PvP Monster

Lord Entertainer Fabian is widely considered one of the strongest PvP fusion champions ever released.

Why he’s so strong:

  • Removes enemy buffs

  • Increases enemy skill cooldowns

  • Provides strong crowd control

  • Works exceptionally well in the Mercurial PvP meta

He’s especially valuable in:

  • Classic and Tag Arena

  • Live Arena

  • Siege

If your focus is PvP, Fabian is arguably the best fusion token pick right now.

Gnut – PvE Boss Destroyer

Gnut is one of the best PvE champions in the entire game.

His strengths include:

  • Triple-hit attacks for Fire Knight

  • Massive enemy MAX HP damage

  • Incredible boss farming potential

He shines in content like:

  • Fire Knight Normal AND Hard

  • Dungeon speed farming

  • Basically every boss in the game (he’s not the best for Clan Bosses, but he’s decent)

If your goal is progression and boss farming, Gnut is one of the strongest investments available.

S Tier – Champions With Powerful Synergies

These champions are amazing when paired with specific partners.

Wixwell + Titus (The Ultimate Clan Boss Combo)

Together, Vault Keeper Wixwell and Titus Blackplume create one of the most powerful damage setups in the game for Clan Bosses.

The combo works because:

  • Wixwell creates, grows, and extends the duration of massive shields

  • Titus A2 damage scales to disgusting numbers based on shield size

When combined, they can deal billions of damage in Demon Lord, Hydra, and Chimera.

However, there’s a problem.

Both champions cost three tokens, meaning it could take a year or more to obtain both. If you’re missing just one of them, then picking up the other is a no brainer; if you’re missing both, you can certainly spend 12+ months chasing both, but you should also consider going for an immediately valuable champion instead (after all, by the time you get both, they could be powercrept by some new 2026/2027 champion(s)…)

Note that Wixwell is a stronger standalone champion, but Titus is much less likely to be pulled from shards due to being a void legendary.

Oella – Hydra Support Powerhouse

Oella is an interesting choice who can be a fantastic third teammate in the Titus/Wixwell team.

She brings:

  • Buff extension

  • Healing
  • Increase RES

  • Decrease SPD

Due to the ability of Hydra and particularly Chimera to remove your buffs, Oella’s RES boosting ability makes it far easier to hit the stat requirements to protect Titus’ shields, while also bringing the crucial Decrease SPD debuff.

Lady Noelle + Sir Nicholas – Freezing Christmas Duo

Sir Nicholas and Lady Noelle are a fantastic pairing who pump out a huge amount of Freeze debuffs while protecting their own team with extremely frequent Unkillable buffs, Healing, and Shields. After his buff last year, Sir Nicholas is now a much more proficient damage dealer than when he first released.

Both champions are good standalone champions–but they become significantly more powerful when paired up.

They are particularly useful in PvP and against any PvE waves, but they are less useful against bosses who are almost all immune to Freeze.

Packmaster Shy’ek and Kro’khad the Throatripper – Trained Attack Doggo

Packmaster Shy’ek and Kro’khad the Throatripper are another incredibly powerful duo who jump to a very high value slot if you already have one of the champions collected.

Kro’khad is the true star of the show here, with Packmaster enabling him to pump out ludicrous amounts of damage with both his active skills as well as constant counterattacks and ally attacks activated by Shy’ek.

They are a very strong duo against any boss in the game, and can even be a serious threat in PvP–though due to requiring totally different gear in PvE vs PvP, it is likely that you can only build them for one type of content at a given time.

Wight Queen Ankora + Noldua the Gloaming – Do you have their partners?

Wight Queen Ankora and Noldua the Gloaming are both very similar champions here: they are tanky revivers with strong utility; they’re strong on their own; but they’re at their best when paired with their void legendary partners.

Wight King Narses and Solanar the Gleaming are not part of the Fusion Token system, but if you’re lucky enough to pull one of them then their partner surges in value.

Note that while Ankora and Narses are a good PvP duo, Noldua and Solanar are much stronger!

A Tier – Strong But Optional Picks

Some champions are still excellent, but fall into the “nice to have” category rather than must-picks.

These include:

  • Armanz the Magnificent – a CC machine (he’s struggling in PvP at the moment though due to Wand of Submission relics and Mercurial gear)

  • Rotos – a powerful PvP damage dealer (and partner to Siphi the Lost Bride)
  • Tormin the Cold – a powerful PvP damage dealer (and partner to Hilvi the Rime-called)
  • Gnishak Verminlord – a fantastic Bomb champion (he’s lost some value due to Mercurial gear countering Bombs)

  • The Mad Hatter – a surprisingly useful ally attack champion

  • Pythion – reliable revive support

  • Uuko – an offensive revive support

These champions can still be great additions depending on your roster. We can recommend any of the “A Tier” champions from our list, though we cannot blindly say that they will be better for your account than any unknown future fusions.

Final Thoughts

The Fusion Token system is an interesting addition to RAID, but it rewards careful planning.

Before spending tokens, consider these key points:

Focus on high-impact champions

Prioritize champions like Fabian or Gnut that immediately improve your account.

Be careful with partner combos

Some champions only shine when paired with another, meaning they gain value if you have their partner, but may not be worth pursuing until you are lucky enough to pull one of them.

Save tokens when possible

Stockpiling tokens gives you flexibility for whenever a “bad” fusion opportunity occurs!
