New Champions in RAID: Shadow Legends
Plarium are releasing a batch of new Champions to RAID: Shadow Legends this week, including the February Fusion, her partner and a new Faction Unity Champion for the Dwarves.
The details of the above mentioned Champions can be found in previous announcement articles, but alongside them there are going to be three other additions to RAID which we will be covering in this article.
Chalco the Blind
Chalco the Blind is a formidable Attack champion from the Demonspawn faction, feared for his relentless assault and unique abilities. Despite his lack of sight, he tracks enemies with heightened senses, using his fiery wings and blades to overwhelm those who stand against him. His insatiable hunger for battle makes him a relentless force in both PvE and PvP content.
Beyond his role as a damage dealer, Chalco brings valuable utility with abilities that disrupt enemy strategies. His A2 is a two-hit attack that applies Block Passive Skills and Decrease Defense to a target before spreading all of their debuffs to all enemies. This makes him a strong counter to champions reliant on passive abilities while ensuring debuffs are effectively distributed. If he secures a kill with this ability, he gains an Extra Turn, allowing him to chain into his other skills.
His A3 enhances his own Accuracy with a 50% Increase Accuracy buff before reducing enemy buff durations and applying Decrease Speed. A damage dealer with self-sustained Accuracy is especially effective in content with high-resistance enemies. The combination of buff removal and speed reduction makes him a valuable pick against bosses like Hydra. His A1 grows stronger based on the number of debuffs on the target, ignoring an additional 5% Defense per debuff, stacking with its base 10% ignore Defense effect. Against enemies like The Dark Fae and Fire Knight, this is particularly potent, as he also steals 10% Turn Meter, further disrupting their turns when combined with his Decrease Speed debuff.
Chalco also possesses a powerful passive that punishes attempts to crowd control him. He is resistant to many control effects and, if an enemy tries to disable him, he instantly activates his A2, applying Block Passive Skills and Decrease Defense while spreading debuffs—without putting the skill on cooldown. Additionally, his damage scales based on the number of debuffs placed by himself or allies, stacking up to 50% bonus damage. However, this effect resets when he takes a turn, requiring strategic timing to maximize his offensive potential.
Arashi the Riptide
Emerging from the shadows of the Shadowkin empire, this elusive assassin dominates the seas around the Kingdom of Yakai. Striking with concealed blades and channeling the power of the ocean, he eliminates intruders before they even sense his presence. Arashi the Riptide is an HP-based Legendary champion from the Shadowkin faction, blending survivability with lethal precision.
Skill Overview
Arashi excels in content where multiple enemies can be defeated, making him a strong choice for Arena, Siege, and The Cursed City, though his utility extends to various other areas of the game. His A3 is his signature skill, increasing his HP by 5% (stacking up to 30%) each time he secures a kill, reinforcing both his durability and offensive potential. Before attacking, this ability also grants him Perfect Veil and a 30% Increase Crit Damage buff. The AOE attack that follows strikes each target individually, ignoring 15% defense, with an additional 5% defense ignore per subsequent target. This targeting mechanic makes him particularly effective against champions with passives that mitigate AOE damage, such as Duchess Lilitu or Hydra heads.
His A2 is a single-target strike designed to bypass defensive buffs, ignoring Shield and Strengthen, and even Stone Skin if he is under Perfect Veil. Thanks to his passive, which grants him Perfect Veil at the start of each round, he can immediately open with A2 in Arena to eliminate a Stone Skin target without needing setup from his A3. If he lands a kill, his buff extension prolongs Perfect Veil, keeping him protected.
Additionally, Arashi’s passive introduces a powerful defensive mechanic—he has a chance to reflect all incoming damage and debuffs back to the attacker. If this reflection results in a kill, he gains a Turn Meter boost and re-applies Perfect Veil, making him a dangerous opponent to target. This unique ability allows him to punish aggressive enemies, especially in PvP settings where he can unexpectedly turn the tide of battle.
Fjorad Wolfheart (Mythical)
Fjorad Wolfheart, a Mythical champion from the Dwarves faction, embodies the balance between fire and ice. Though he wields a flame-cloaked totem and an axe, his true power lies in the cold magic that courses through him. Raised in the mountains among wolves, Fjorad always felt more beast than dwarf. His strength did not go unnoticed, and in recognition of his abilities, he was granted an ancient power that reshaped him entirely. In an instant, fire gave way to ice, his skin took on a frozen hue, and Tormin gifted him an axe capable of freezing enemies solid.
Base Form
At first glance, this form emphasizes crowd control with Freeze debuffs, but Fjorad also provides essential utility for a variety of encounters. His A3 applies Freeze and Decrease Speed to all enemies, then grants him an Extra Turn, allowing him to either Metamorph into his alternate form or use another skill immediately. This makes it an ideal setup for transitioning into his alternate form, where he can ignore more defense and apply Block Revive to slain enemies. Alternatively, it can be used purely for control, particularly against Gaellen Pact champions, who remain frozen for two turns.
His A2 grants Block Debuffs and Increase Speed to allies while also reducing their skill cooldowns by one turn. This makes him a valuable asset for battles where both speed manipulation and debuff protection are key, such as Hydra and Hard Fire Knight. By accelerating ally skill rotations, slowing enemies, and using Freeze to disrupt Turn Meters, Fjorad provides strong team support. His utility extends beyond PvE into Arena, where enemies that attack him have a chance to be frozen, and his A1 offers even more opportunities to apply Freeze.
Alternate Form
When Fjorad shifts into his frozen form, his playstyle transforms from crowd control to relentless offense. Enemies previously frozen in his base form become prime targets for his devastating attacks, maximizing the synergy between both forms.
His A2, Icequake, is an AOE attack that deals an extra hit to enemies under crowd control effects, reduces their MAX HP by 25% of the damage inflicted (up to 50%), and lowers their Turn Meters by 25%. To unlock its full potential, ensuring enemies are under Freeze or another control effect—whether from his own abilities or an ally’s—will significantly boost its impact.
His A3 is a single-target nuke that ignores 50% of defense, or 100% if the target is frozen. Additionally, if he kills a frozen enemy with this ability, they cannot be revived due to Block Revive. To fully capitalize on this, he can set up his own Freeze, or be paired with champions like Tormin or Gurgoh for added synergy.
Lastly, his passive ability punishes attempts to disrupt him. If enemies try to increase his skill cooldowns, he counterattacks with his A1, and if he secures a kill, he resets the cooldown of a skill, allowing him to cycle back into his powerful abilities faster.
