RAID Digest: Buff & Debuff Rules, Relic Accuracy
Plarium has released the latest RAID Digest, and this one contains some useful combat mechanic clarifications for RAID: Shadow Legends.
The September 18th Digest explains exactly which Buffs and Debuffs can be spread, stolen, transferred, or extended. We have also received confirmation on how Accuracy works with Relics, plus news about the next Clan vs Clan Tournament.
There are plenty of exceptions buried inside RAID’s combat systems, so let’s break down the important details.
Which Buffs Cannot Be Spread?
Buff Spread does not work with every Buff in RAID. Plarium has provided a full list of the current exceptions.
The following Buffs cannot be spread:
- Ally Protection 25% and 50%
- Veil and Perfect Veil
- Taunt
- Stone Skin
- Shield effects provided by gear
- Stormcall
- Intercept
- Total Guard
- Bone Armor
- Lightning Orb
- Immutable
- Poison Cloud
- Life Barrier
- Serpent’s Will
- Goldplated
- Scarab King’s Shield
- Rage
Many of these exceptions are special Boss effects or stack-based Buffs. This prevents several powerful mechanics from being copied across an entire team.
Which Buffs Cannot Be Stolen?
The rules for stealing Buffs differ from the rules for spreading them.
You cannot steal the following Buffs:
- Veil and Perfect Veil
- Total Guard
- Bone Armor
- Lightning Orb
- Life Barrier
- Serpent’s Will
- Goldplated
- Scarab King’s Shield
- Rage
A Buff being immune to spreading does not mean it cannot be stolen.
Buff Duration Restrictions
Several Buffs cannot have their duration increased:
- Block Damage
- Unkillable
- Revive on Death
- Stone Skin
- Taunt
- Stormcall
- Intercept
- Total Guard
- Bone Armor
- Lightning Orb
- Immutable
- Poison Cloud
- Life Barrier
- Serpent’s Will
- Goldplated
- Scarab King’s Shield
- Rage
Stack-based Buffs and several special Boss effects cannot have their duration reduced either.
Which Debuffs Cannot Be Spread?
Most standard damage and stat reduction Debuffs remain valid targets. Many crowd control effects cannot be copied onto other enemies.
The following Debuffs cannot be spread:
- Stun
- Freeze
- Sleep
- Provoke
- Fear and True Fear
- Petrification
- Sheep
- Deathbrand
- Smite
- Siphon
- Entangle
- Dazed
- Decapitated
This matters for Debuff Spread Champions. Effects such as Poison, HP Burn, Decrease DEF and Weaken are not included in Plarium’s exception list.
Which Debuffs Cannot Have Their Duration Changed?
The following Debuffs cannot have their duration increased:
- Bomb
- Infest
- Stun
- Freeze
- Sleep
- Provoke
- Fear and True Fear
- Petrification
- Sheep
- Smite
- Siphon
- Entangle
- Dazed
- Decapitated
Bomb, Infest, Smite, Siphon, Entangle, Dazed and Decapitated cannot have their duration reduced through normal duration manipulation.
Bombs use their own countdown mechanic. Some skills can reduce that countdown, so Bombs do not follow the normal Debuff duration rules.
Which Debuffs Cannot Be Transferred?
Champions that transfer their own Debuffs onto enemies face another set of restrictions.
Other Debuffs can be spread, transferred, or have their duration changed, subject to the restrictions above. The game checks the Accuracy of the Champion attempting the manipulation against the target’s Resistance.
How Does Accuracy Work With Deflection?
Deflection follows a different rule.
For effects such as the Deflection Artifact Set or Wand of Submission, RAID checks the Accuracy of the Champion who originally placed the Debuff. The original Debuff producer uses their own Accuracy when the effect gets sent back to them.
Do Relics Need Accuracy?
Yes. Negative effects placed by Relics follow similar Accuracy and Resistance rules to Champion skills.
By default, the Champion wearing the Relic needs enough Accuracy to land its negative effect. Relics with effects that cannot be resisted will state this in their description.
Legendary Relics
- Wand of Submission: Uses the Accuracy of the Champion who originally placed the Debuff.
- Blades of Akumori: Uses the wearer’s Accuracy.
- Sporeburst Rod: Uses the wearer’s Accuracy.
Epic Relics
- Orb of Transfixion: Its negative effect cannot be resisted.
- Hammer of Ending: Its negative effect cannot be resisted.
A Relic that places a negative effect can give you another reason to build Accuracy, even on Champions whose normal skills have little need for the stat.
Personal Rewards Confirmed for the Next CvC
Plarium has confirmed that the upcoming Clan vs Clan Tournament will feature Personal Rewards.
Players planning to push the next CvC can start saving resources. Champion upgrades, Artifact upgrades, Books, Forge materials and other stored resources can provide plenty of points during a Personal Rewards CvC.
