Alaz The Sunbearer Overview
It’s been rumoured for century’s that a mythical legend had walked the land of the Barbarians. In recent times, locals had noticed the Sun appeared closer than usual, until one night, what seemed to be a shooting star caused a Boltquake in the red sands. A warrior dressed in Curaiss from the Sun stands before us, the myth has arrived in the world of Telaria, and he’s here to protect the land he walked all those years ago. Alaz The Sunbearer is a Mythical champion residing from the Barbarians Faction.
BASE FORM
Mythical champions can shape shift to utilise different abilities to tackle various areas in the game. Thing’s are no different with Alaz, and his base form is revolved around dealing damage to enemies, battling bosses & crowd controlling his foe. Opening with the Searing Glade, he places a Provoke debuff on an enemy for 2 turns [Non-resistible against targets under 50% HP], followed by placing Counterattack & Block Damage buffs on all allies. This synergy holds universal value, whether that be the Clan Boss for protection & damage, or simply the Magma Dragon for control [as examples], being the fourth champion in the game to place an AOE counter attack will be desirable for many players. The usage of counter attack also adds layers of damage and sustain for Alaz, as he will increase his DEF by 5% [stacks up to 100%] each time this occurs, therefore leading to more damage over time. Rolling Thunder on to enemies [A2], he places an extra hit on targets below 50% HP, and decreases their MAX HP by 30% instead when above that threshold. As he places an Increase Defence buff on allies before attacking, we can expect this ability to be powerful in Arena, or simply to tackle waves elsewhere. This extra hit theme remains with the A1 granted they’re under Shields, however this time he will also Ignore shields in the process!
ALTERNATE FORM
Using a solar flare to fire up his heart from the heavens, Alaz forms in to a pyro tactician! A unique element of this form is manipulating Fear / True Fear Debuffs to your advantage, granting a 70% chance instead of 50% of targets losing their turn. This is great when facing waves of enemies so you can nullify incoming effects more consistently. Alaz is also attempting to bring burns in to the Arena Meta, but how impactful will it be? Well he not only places AOE HP Burns on all enemies, but enemies under Stoneskin cannot resist this placement, followed by an instant detonation on those targets. The Stoneskin set will grant a 50% shield on a champion, whilst the damage from burns will become 5x [60% HP detonation when facing 4 targets], therefore he can destroy targets through that form of protection.
This champion also has an A1 that’s AOE, which will place extra attacks on burned enemies, therefore opening the opportunity to utilise various sets such as Taunt & Cursed in the Hydra. Synergising with this skill is the Revitalizing Ray [A3], that can fully restore the MAX HP of allies, then heals them, followed by placing Strengthen & Increase Resistance buffs. Restoration champions are scarce in raid, where only options such as Marichka do this job effectively, so having someone fulfilling this plus so much more you can be sure he will dominate the Hydra.
