Chimera – Should you go for Trials or for Damage?
One of the biggest questions about the new Chimera Clan Boss is whether players should focus on completing Trials or simply aiming for the highest damage team possible. In this article we break down exactly what you should do for week 1 and 2 of this new boss.
Trials vs Damage
The most important thing BY FAR for this boss is that you secure the best chest for the highest difficulty that you can, and that your clan takes it down every week for double rewards.
The rewards from the weekly chests far exceed the rewards from Trials and even from Chimera Clash.
In other words, Trials should only become a consideration if you can do them without dropping down to a lower tier chest.
Trials for Chimera Clash Points Multiplier
For Chimera Clash points, it seems like around 5 trials is the sweet spot at the release of this new boss.
Clearing a small number of trials should be achieveable for many players, and it’s worth it for the multiplier boost and extra relic resources. Trying to do more than 5 trials becomes extremely challenging and you are better off simply building a stronger core team around champions like Ninja or Marius the Gallant; the extra multiplier from doing more trials will not make up for the damage loss of bringing in weaker teams to complete them.
Remember as well that completing more trials will make the Ultimate Form more challenging, which can wreck an otherwise brilliant team.
The Best Trials to do
Not all Trials are created equal, so you want to make sure you’re putting your efforts into chasing Trials which have the best return on investment.
Unfortunately, the best trials vary depending on the difficulty of the boss. In short, look for the Trials with the highest rarity of Occular Mass, since these will let you craft the best relics.
Trials which drop gemstones are very valuable early on, when you will probably be lacking good ones to socket into your first relics.
RAM FORM
The Ram Form trials are very difficult due to the damage reflection that the boss does. Placing debuffs with Increase Accuracy is easy for players who have Marius or Lady Mikage, or the free login champion Skeletor is an option open to everyone.
Dealing damage to the Ram Form while it is under Fear is also doable on lower difficulties if you have a consistent Fear champion such as Lydia the Deathsiren.
Trial #3 has very easy steps if you have a good Perfect Veil champion such as Firrol the Barkhorn.
LION FORM
The Trial #2 line for the Lion Form is very easy to complete. Bringing an Ally Attack champion such as Lady Mikage or Fahrakin the Fat will make these rewards easy to pick up.
The other Trials require very niche buffs such as Block Damage or Reflect Damage to work, so they should not be a major focus.
VIPER FORM
The Viper Form is another possibility for picking up some easy trials. Trial #1 requires Block Active Skills and HP Burn. This is doable if you have Lydia for step 1. You can even try complete the hard step on lower difficulties (the required debuffs scales up with difficulty, making it extremely tough on nightmare and above).
Trial #2 is tricky due to Poison being a requirement. Bringing teams with lots of debuffs to complete other Trials will make this one harder to complete, since there is only room for 10 debuffs at a time.
Tiral #3 has two easy steps, though Increase Resistance is incredibly rare so step #3 is likely not worth trying for most players.
