Chimera – Top 10 Damage Champions
The first week of the new Chimera Clan Boss has come to a close and the big question on everyone’s minds is: who are the best champions?? In this article we break down the top 10 damage champions for Chimera (check out our Top 10 supports list too!) and give a few honorable mentions as well.
Check out our Top 10 Epic Champions article for more budget-friendly choices.
Don’t foret to let us know your top 10 list and the team that you used in week 1 in the comment section!
1. Toshiro the Bloody
Toshiro the Bloody is the top damage dealer for the Chimera Clan Boss. Not only does he bring a higher damage potential than other options, he also brings fantastic utility in his Decrease Defence and Leech debuffs, and his Perfect Veil buff, which let him complete Trials (and survive against the Ram Form) that other damage dealers cannot do. The craziest thing about this is that this is the WORST rotation for Toshiro, since the Chimera spends half of the battle as Force affinity; expect him to pull even further ahead of the pack once the rotation changes to Magic or Spirit.
Recommend build: 9-piece Merciless.
2. Lady Mikage
Lady Mikage straddles the line between damage and support: while her personal damage is low, she pushes Shadowkin damage dealers on this list (Toshiro, Harima and Ninja) to the next level–to such an extent that they can exceed the potential of 2 pure damage dealers. In team compositions she is typically filling in where a second damage dealer normally would, so I’m putting her on this list and, given that Toshiro is number 1, she rightly needs to be number 2.
Recommend build: 9-piece Protection.
3. Marius the Gallant
Marius the Gallant has come out of the gates swinging as the top Enemy MAX HP scaling damage dealer for Chimera. WIth the short cooldown on his A2 and his ability to cycle back to it quickly using the Extra Turn on his A3, Marius pumps out serious damage while also being reasonably survivable. As an AoE damage dealer he can also use a 9-piece slayer build to duplicate 30% of his attacks.
Recommend build: 9-piece Slayer.
4. Acrizia
Acrizia has the unique capability of dealing Enemy MAX HP scaling damage with every single one of her attacks. This gives her extremely high damage output against the Chimera, though it is very difficult to keep her alive against the Ram Form which will reflect this massive damage every single turn. Against other forms, her passive will help her stay alive to balance this out.
Recommend build: 9-piece Merciless.
5. Gnut
Gnut, the best fusion champion of all time, is back for another boss! He has a triple-hit Enemy MAX HP attack on his A3, but it has a disadvantage compared to Marius of having a longer 4-turn cooldown. On the plus side, Gnut can lower enemy defence by up to 30% (exceeding the 20% cap of a 6-star Cruelty blessing) which will boost the damage of everyone else on your team. He also brings Decrease Attack and Weaken, which can be helpful utility for building your team.
Recommend build: 9-piece Merciless.
6. Legate Teox
Legate Teox comes in as the only Faction Unity champion on this list and he opens up some very interesting team compositions for players that own him. His A1 ally attack is incredibly strong when you stack debuffs on the Chimera, so pair him with another top tier damage dealer such as Toshiro or even a second Teox! Lizardmen supports are strong for this fight too, and you can easily fill out Teox’s team with champions like Nekmo Thaar, Krisk, Lazarius, or Ramantu.
Recommend build: 9-piece Merciless.
7. Wallmaster Othorion
Wallmaster Othorion is a sleeper OP champion for Chimera right now due to the Force Affinity found on Rotation 1 of the boss. Once the rotation swaps. expect him to become a top tier performer, rivalling the likes of Gnut. He brings a short cooldown double-hit Enemy MAX HP attack on his A2 and an Extra Turn mechanic on his A3, similar to Marius. His attacks are also AoE, enabling a Slayer build. One advantage he has compared to Marius (who generally outclasses him) is his Decrease Attack debuff, which is essential for this fight.
Recommend build: 9-piece Slayer.
8. Harima
Harima is the next best pairing with Mikage right now after Toshiro, due to the Force Affinity rotation. Not only is she a tanky damage dealer, she also brings the ability (like Gnut) to reduce the Chimera’s defence by up to 30% (which beats the 20% cap of 6-star Cruelty).
Recommend build: 9-piece Merciless.
9. Ninja
10. Turvold
Turvold is definitely a wild-card pick here, being far less common than the champions listed above. Nonetheless, he brings huge single-single target damage that is not Enemy MAX HP damage, which opens up Trial possibilities, and his void affinity will keep him relevant on every rotation.
Recommend build: 9-piece Merciless.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Graazur Irongut: Enemy MAX HP Damage, Increase Resistance Buff
Thor Faehammer: Increase Attack, Increase Crit Damage, Decrease Speed
Cruetraxa: Weaken, Ignore Defence A1
Whisper: Epic, Weaken, Extra Turns
Fenax: Epic, A1 double damage
Alaz the Sunbearer: Block Damage, Counterattack, Increase Defence, HP Burn, Increase Resistance
Razelvarg is putting some great work in for me, brings in acc up and leach yes bad affinty match up but he can hit pretty hard on his a1 making him take even more turns
Thor should be top 10 once affinity changes. You forgot to mention he reduces the RES of the boss and since it doesnt die like hydra, its permanent 50% RES reduction after a few turns. “Has a 75% chance of permanently decreasing the RES of each enemy by 10% (stacks up to 50%)” on the A3.
I think you will find Ma’Shalled might make his way in to some top damage team comps depending on the rest of the team. As long as your meeting the conditionals of his A1 and A3 (leech on boss, buffs off boss), he pumps the damage himself as well as increasing everyone else’s damage and speed.
