Nub Raids & YST’s Top Choices For Legendary Buffs!

As of August 2024, Raid: Shadow Legends has over 800 champions, with the roster continually expanding. However, as the game evolves, many classic and even newer champions could benefit from buffs to reach their full potential. Whether it’s due to lacking damage, poor synergy, or underwhelming base stats, some champions need a boost to become more versatile and impactful. In today’s article, Nub Raids and YST break down their top 5 legendary champions they believe deserve a buff, so they can be utilized more effectively in the game!

Champions YST Wants to See Buffed!

VIZIER OVELIS

This classic champion from the Dark Elves has been a key component of many Clan Boss teams over the years, as well as in Doom Tower and Dungeon boss battles. His value lies mainly in his ability to extend debuffs with his A1, while his other skills are often overlooked, except in niche scenarios like spreading Bombs in the arena or Burns in Spider. To make Vizier more versatile, particularly in Hydra, I suggest making his A2 an AOE placement, as Block Buffs and Decrease Attack are crucial for any team. Additionally, reducing the cooldown of his A2 & A3 to three turns would allow him to cycle the skills more frequently.

RHAZIN SCARHIDE

Rhazin has been a permanent fusion available to all players since the game’s launch, and he still holds value against single-target bosses with his Decrease Defence and Weaken debuffs, and for his Turn Meter reduction against enemies. However, as an older champion, he could benefit from some changes to stay current with the times. Lowering the cooldown on his A3 would be a great start. Additionally, boosting his base speed and possibly turning his A2 into an AOE placement – triggered if the initial attack is critical – would significantly enhance his versatility.

CROMAX MOONBLOOD

I was thrilled to obtain this champion as the 7th Legendary from gathering Secret Room fragments – until I realized I had misread his A2 all along. A single-target Block Buffs with a self Turn Meter fill just doesn’t cut it for a champion that takes so long to acquire. The change I’d suggest is simple: make it an AOE ability with a team wide Turn Meter fill. I do like the A3, but with only a 1 turn Provoke, I’d like to see either the cooldown reduced or the duration extended to make it more effective for controlling the Head of Decay. With these adjustments, I believe we’d see a lot more of Cromax in action.

WARCHIEF

We’ve all experienced that frustrating moment in the Doom Tower when Warchief takes us out with his reflection passive. However, beyond that, he’s primarily just a single target Provoker. While he plays this role well for controlling the Head of Decay or Magma Dragon, a few changes could make him far more versatile. I’d love to see Warchief gain a bonus ability that places buffs on himself, like Taunt and Counterattack, to make him a strong Mischief tank. Additionally, if he counters, his A1 could inflict an Enemy Max HP nuke, similar to Galleus, to add some extra damage. These changes would truly elevate his utility.

CHRONICLER ADELYN

This pick might be controversial, as I know many players use her in content like Sand Devil or The Phantom Shogun, and I also enjoy using her in some of my teams. However, I still believe she could benefit from a slight buff, even if it’s just to enhance her existing abilities. While I’d love to see her A3 become an AOE skill for areas like Hydra, simply making the effects non-resistible would be a significant improvement – especially for Sand Devil teams, where that 3% chance to resist can lead to wasted energy. Additionally, increasing the percentage of HP she restores would make her more impactful, as it currently lacks compared to champions like Grand Oak Padraig. These small changes would make Adelyn even more viable.

FORTUS

Fortus received a buff last year, but I believe he still needs the “Jingwon treatment” with further adjustments. The damage output, especially on his A2, is underwhelming and could use a boost. The guaranteed crit on his A3 doesn’t add much value, as we’d already build him with 100% crit for his A2. A more impactful change would be adding a bonus to his passive that increases Accuracy based on his Critical Damage, giving him a stronger chance to land debuffs. This would allow players to focus more on damage stats rather than struggling with a hybrid build.

RAGLIN

Raglin has long been a reliable reviver and cleanser for players progressing through the game, but as a Void Legendary, she could benefit from a buff to enhance her utility. While her revival skill is strong, it would be great if the champions she revives had max Turn Meter, similar to Cardinal, ensuring they can immediately take a turn. Raglin could also benefit from a passive ability, perhaps something that pre-empts her death, like Starsage Galathir, allowing her to re-join the fight if your team is nuked. Lastly, reducing the cooldown on her A2 would allow her to cycle the skill more effectively, and it would be better if it scaled with HP rather than ATK.

BIG’UN

Big’Un has the potential to reclaim his status as a top-tier champion, especially given his AOE attacks across all skills. A few simple changes could make a big difference: increasing the chances of his debuffs landing from the A2 and A3, and reducing the cooldown on his A3 to allow for more frequent use. These adjustments would make him more viable in challenging areas like Hydra or The Dark Fae, where reliable debuffs are crucial.

Thea The Tomb Angel

The first champion you acquire from clearing Secret Rooms in the Hard Doom Tower has the potential to be an elite Hydra champion, but she’s not quite there yet. To maximize the damage scaling of her A2, you currently need to face six targets; it would be more effective if it could stack to the max with just four. Additionally, her randomized Hex placements on the A1 are too unreliable, often requiring support from another Hex champion. To improve her utility, I’d suggest adding an AOE Hex placement to her A3 alongside her Perfect Veil, or giving her A1 a chance to apply Hex to all enemies.

MOUNTAIN KING

If there’s one champion known for slicing through single targets, it’s the Mountain King. I’d love to see Raid update him to keep pace with the current meta – perhaps by adding an Ignore Stoneskin effect to one of his skills, making him a true counter to champions like Ultimate Deathknight. It would also be great to see him gain an extra turn after killing a target, allowing him to take out enemies one by one. Another idea could be a passive that grants a Shield buff to allies upon killing an enemy, adding a layer of support to his role. This champion also needs a boost to his base speed.
