Top 5 Crowd Control Champions in the High Elves!
Crowd control is one of the most effective ways to lock down enemy waves and PvP opponents. Whether it's through Stuns, Freeze, Provoke, Sleep, Fear/True Fear, Petrification, Sheep, or other effects like Block Active Skills and Block Passive Skills, controlling the enemy team can completely swing a fight. While effects like Turn Meter manipulation, Increase Skill Cooldowns and Taunt are also forms of control, this series will focus primarily on debuff-based crowd control. You can click the debuff links to explore which effects are best suited for the encounters you're facing, as each has strong use cases in different scenarios.
In this series of articles, we'll be highlighting who we believe are the strongest champions in this role across every faction and any rarity. We're focusing on champions who aren't just powerful controllers, but well-rounded picks overall, bringing meaningful utility alongside their crowd control. If a faction is stacked with standout options, we may also include a few honourable mentions. With that said, let's dive into some of the best crowd control champions from the High Elves!
Most Valuable Players

Skeuramis's control comes from the A3 – an AoE attack that places Provoke while granting himself Counterattack and Continuous Heal. This makes him a strong option for Mischief tanking, controlling enemy waves, and handling bosses like the Head of Decay or the Magma Dragon. The Counterattacks give him more frequent opportunities to use his A1 when hit, stealing 15% Turn Meter and having a chance to Stun if the target's Turn Meter is fully depleted.
He also brings an AoE skill that reduces enemy buff durations, applies Decrease ATK, and fills his own Turn Meter by 10% for every buff reduced. It's an effective way to strip away enemy protection and cut down the damage your team takes.
Another Epic makes the Top 5 for this faction, and he's a champion who excels in both damage and control. With his A2, Ethlen can place Block Active Skills on all enemies, then apply True Fear on those not affected with the second hit. This lets him shut down key abilities and prevent Mythical champions from switching forms, with True Fear acting as a backup layer of control.
His A3 sets up the A2 by granting himself Increase C.DMG and Increase ACC, followed by an Extra Turn. This helps him reach the accuracy needed to land his debuffs while boosting his critical damage for the hits that follow. He also passively ignores 10% DEF when attacking support, DEF, and HP champions, and his A1 can either Shield or heal him by 10% depending on the target's HP threshold.
Starsage is a phenomenal support champion in his Base Form, but he becomes an incredible control specialist in his Alternate Form. His A3 applies Increase ACC, then places both Decrease RES and Stun on enemies, making it far easier for your team to land their effects on high-RES targets while locking them down. Paired with his A2 – which removes buffs and applies AoE Block Active Skills -he becomes one of the strongest all-round control champions in the faction.
He also passively boosts his own ACC by an amount equal to 75% of his RES whenever he places debuffs or triggers instant effects. On top of that, he can reflect control effects back onto enemies if his RES is higher than their ACC, and his A1 adds even more utility by pushing back enemy Turn Meters.
Pyxniel isn't a top tier champion overall, but in a faction with limited control options she can still be valuable. Her control comes from the A3, an AoE attack that applies Freeze to all enemies. Although Frozen enemies take only 75% of normal damage, it sets up her A2 to apply Weaken to those affected, while also allowing her to hit targets under Freeze.
Her A2 also provides team sustain by placing Increase DEF and Continuous Heal on allies, and her A1 applies Perfect Veil to your most vulnerable ally to help protect them from single-target attacks. Passively, she boosts her Turn Meter whenever allies receive Freeze, is immune to Freeze herself, and can cleanse Freeze from allies – making her a solid counter to enemies built around this debuff.
Basileus Roanas is best known as a single target sniper, but he does bring some useful control. His A3 has a 100% chance to Stun enemies, or reduce their Turn Meter by 50% if the Stun doesn't land. As a damage dealer it can be difficult to land these effects on high-RES targets when fully built for damage, but in a hybrid setup with some Accuracy he can be very effective at disrupting enemies.
His A2 follows up with three single target hits that ignore Increase DEF, Shield, Block Damage, and 50% of the target's DEF – making it excellent for defeating priority threats. His A1 can steal a random buff or apply Block Buffs if the target has none. He's definitely more of a niche option, but he can be valuable in areas like Faction Wars, Cursed City, and Arena progression.
Honourable Mentions
SHIRIMANI
It was a close call between this champion and Pyxniel for the Top 5 spot. She also brings an AoE Freeze, but gains 10% Turn Meter for each enemy hit, helping her cycle back into her turns more quickly. Her A2 provides a 50% heal to a chosen ally, a 20% heal to the rest of the team, and a Continuous Heal to anyone already at full HP. She even has a small chance to place Freeze with her triple-hit A1, though it's heavily RNG-dependent for bosses like Fire Knight Hard – definitely an area that could use a buff.
ANDRYSSIA
If Andryssia only brought a single-target 1 turn Stun, she might not have made the list – but her ability to apply a 2-turn Stun to enemies without active buffs can be incredibly useful. It can completely shut down a key threat in waves or during PvP progression, and it works best when paired with an ally who can strip buffs to maximise the effectiveness of her A2.
Beyond that, she can reduce enemy buff durations, extend the duration of ally Increase DEF buffs, and passively place Ally Protection on your lowest HP ally while giving herself Strengthen and Increase DEF. This makes her effective at protecting a fragile ally – almost like a budget version of Nekhret.
STRATEGOS ISLIN
Islin doesn't bring AoE control, but his A1 gives him a 50% chance per hit to place Provoke – or 65% when counterattacking. His A3 applies Ally Protection and Increase DEF to all allies, two strong forms of team support, while granting himself Counterattack and Shield for personal protection and more frequent A1 triggers when attacked.
The more he's hit, the more chances he has to apply Provoke, which can trap enemies in a loop of constant control if they're not prepared. His passive healing – 1% for every 500 DEF he has when attacked, plus healing allies under his protection for 30% of that amount – makes him extremely hard to take down and even harder to break out of his control cycle.
He also has an AoE skill that reduces enemy buff durations and applies Decrease SPD, adding extra utility against waves or bosses that aren't immune to the debuff.
CONTROL SETS
This faction is noticeably weaker than others when it comes to the number of control champions available, and many players may not want to invest resources into some of these options for Faction Wars or Cursed City – especially with books being so limited. In these cases, you can rely on Gear Sets like Stun or Provoke on your AoE hitters to help manage difficult waves.
Some examples include Battlesage, who has an AoE A1, or Deliana, who brings AoE attacks & strong support utility through her debuffs.
