Chaos Awakes Event Dungeon – Everything I Learned from My Painful Testing
Hey everyone, Nub here! Today I’m going to give you a quick guided tour of the third Event Dungeon in Raid: Shadow Legends—this time featuring Kurosa the Covetous from the Chaos Awakes event. This limited time dungeon is currently the main way to get the incredibly powerful new Pinpoint set which is SS-tier and essential for many champions in arena.
A word of warning: stage 30 of this dungeon is by far the hardest dungeon in the entire game!
THE FASTEST TEAM IN THE WORLD (AND MY STAGE 25 VARIANT)

I, and many other Content Creators, have been hard at work testing many variants of teams for taking on this boss.
The general core strategy across all stages is to kill her minions ASAP, then bring enough damage and survivability to wear her down in Form 2.
THE ONE SHOT STRATEGY
The easiest way to beat the boss is (surprise) to bypass literally all of her mechanics and one-shot her(!)
This is easier said than done of course, and requires some seriously decked out champions–and some very specific champions at that.
This works because “surplus” damage in Raid: Shadow Legends is completely broken; it’s the same reason why Siegfrund or Wukong delete you in arena and why Trunda is 10 times better than every other Hydra damage dealer. Basically, nearly all damage modifiers are applied a second time to surplus damage, which makes the surplus damage do more than the original damage (something which, of course, by definition should not be possible).
Essentially, buff up Sun Wukong or Siegfrund with as many damage multipliers as possible (9-pc protection sets, Firrol passive, Ash’nar passive, Weaken, Increase ATK, 6-star Crushing Rend, etc.) and have them one shot a minion, which in turn will one shot the boss. Only possible on stage 30 if you’re a kraken of course: the gear, empowerment, relic, champion and soul requirements are monumental; but you might be able to run a similar strategy on lower stages too.
MY STAGE 25 TEAM
I used: Mighty Ukko, Sun Wukong, Lydia the Deathsiren, Mithrala Lifebane, and Lady Mikage.
My stage 25 team is essentially a modified version of this strategy, with the difference being that we’re not so giga-stacked that we can one shot the entire dungeon. Instead, with much more reasonable (but still high) requirements, we can one shot the minions, then let a more reasonable team wear down the boss.
I opted for a Mithrala in stoneskin to remove the True Fears and protect the team, coupled with a Wukong who keeps self-reviving.
There are tons of viable damage dealers to sub in instead (Thor, Seer, Marius, etc.) and tons of other supports too. The one thing to watch out for is that you need a CC champion against Countess Lix, otherwise her passive boosts her turn meter and she places Block Active Skills on your other champions.
THERE’S NO SHAME IN FARMING STAGE 20

Even long-term players will find this dungeon difficult, and it’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling bad about not being able to farm higher stages.
But I’m here to tell you that you shouldn’t feel that way.
The requirements for these higher stages are incredibly high, and Stage 20 is a very efficient stage to farm due to it’s lower energy cost. In terms of quantity of Pinpoint gear and ease of completing Tournaments and Events, it’s the best stage.
The only true costs of doing Stage 20 are that you miss out on mythical quality Pinpoint gear, which is a downside for arena (though realistically unless you’re spending some serious cash on energy, you’re not actually losing out on more than one or two pieces over the entire event), and you’ll also miss out on some quests for the Coalition Event which require higher stages.
All in all, Stage 20 is the goal for any mid-late game player, and is a tempting choice even for all but the most hardcore end-game player (and if you’re one of those, read on to join my suffering in the next section).
STAGE 30 – THE HARDEST DUNGEON SO FAR

I’ve done a lot of testing trying to find a 100% team for the dungeon and it is A LOT harder than it might seem (and let’s be honest, it already seems very hard).
Why is it so hard? Firstly, the minions are awful:
- The minions are really nasty. Vulkanos wrecks you with HP Burns and you get Block Revive if you die with a Burn on.
- Mortu-Macaab‘s passive can catapult him up in Turn Meter, then he one-shots (with Block Revive) one of your champs.
- Wythir is very fast, and pumps out tons of Defensive Support effects.
- Hephraak smacks you if you kill anyone before him.
Secondly, the boss herself is awful!:
- On stage 30 she now has 6-star Ward of the Fallen. This makes her do bonus damage per dead ally, scaling off her ATK… And she has over 21,000 ATK.
- Her Form 1 Removes Debuffs from minions and there’s nothing you can do to stop it since she’s immune to all CC.
- Her Form 2 gets loads of Turn Meter if she crits, making her speed tuning extremely random.
NUB’S STAGE 30 TEAM
The team I’m personally building at the moment is:
It’s a simple team concept–broken down in detail in the Event Dungeon guide–where we essentially wipe out the minions with Lydia and Seer, then Geomancer and Vogoth duo the boss, with Aox as a bonus to extend the Burns and speed up the run.
I’ve run into a few troubles building this team though which you need to be aware of (and a huge shoutout to Bronko for coming up with the original idea and Boozor for breaking down many of the issues):
- You need CRAZY gear on Geomancer to keep him alive (100k hp, 3k def, 280 spd, 500 ACC, regen set, rank 5 golden elixir relic, etc.)
- You basically need a 5 or 6-star soul on the champions you want to keep alive (at least they’re epics, but still).
- I REALLY don’t want to level an Elixir to rank 5 (but it makes a big difference in keeping Geomancer alive).
- You need basically the exact same build on Aox too if you want to use him, so good luck having not one but two copies of all that gear.
- Vogoth builds a high DEF build, which at least uses different pieces, but it’s still very intensive.
- Bronko recommended 6-pieces of Defiant gear, and it’s very hard to replicate the build without it (a set only available from prior forge passes).
- You need Lydia to be slower than Geomancer, or he will misplace his first Burn if she misses Weaken on a minion.
- Seer needs CRAZY gear to one-shot everything (I have her 6-star Crushing Rend with Merciless and The Cat’s Gaze).
I believe I now have the team geared enough to be close to 100% successful, but random boss turn meter gains, random crits, random unavoidable 3% resists, and the RNG of True Fear all combine to turn a sub-1-minute run into a 4 minute run every now and then.
I’ll bring you an updated team build in a week or so if I manage to improve it!
