Champions Making a Comeback in RAID 2025

In the ever-evolving world of RAID: Shadow Legends, power creep is inevitable. With each new patch and release, older champions often fall by the wayside, overshadowed by more powerful and flexible options. However, some of these veterans have recently found new life, thanks to meta shifts, new mechanics, or unexpected synergies.

Here’s a look at seven champions who’ve made surprising comebacks in 2025, proving once again that no champion is ever truly out of the fight.

Hephraak: Once Top Tier, Now Tactical

Hephraak was once a powerhouse in the Arena thanks to his flexibility, able to deal huge damage in of out of his turn depending on his build. But the rise of Stone Skin and slow, unkillable compositions made him nearly obsolete.

Now, with the meta shifting toward speed teams and glass-cannon threats, Hephraak is finding renewed purpose. Fast enemies like Arbiter, Shu-Zen, and some variants of Lazarius are typically not in Stone Skin, making them vulnerable to his turn-one burst or disruption. He’s no longer a staple, but in specific matchups, he’s once again a lethal counter.

Duchess Lilitu: No Longer Reigning, But Still Royal

Duchess Lilitu

Once the uncontested queen of Arena support, Duchess was eclipsed by newer champions with more modern kits. Despite that, she’s far from irrelevant. The introduction of Volkanos and the rise of Demonspawn-centric team comps in Live Arena have placed her back in the spotlight.

When paired with champions like Karnage, Komidus, or Cheshire Cat, Duchess becomes a critical piece in highly durable control teams. She may no longer be the undisputed best, but in the right build, she’s just as dependable as ever.

Nekmo Thaar: From Hydra Hero to Chimera Core

Nekmo once dominated Hydra content, offering speed manipulation, leech, and turn meter boosts. Over time, his importance declined as more specialized supports entered the scene. But Chimera has brought him roaring back.

With mechanics that heavily reward speed control, decrease attack, and leech, Nekmo is now a near-essential pick for many Chimera strategies. His blend of offense and utility slots seamlessly into teams with Lydia, Galathir, and other top-tier supports, proving that he still has a lot to offer.

Komidus Darksmile: Once Doubted, Now Dominant

Initially dismissed due to concerns about his polymorph vulnerability, Komidus was thought to be too risky. But the introduction of the Pinpoint set changed everything, giving bomb champions and crowd-control specialists much-needed protection.

Now, Komidus is one of the most terrifying Arena champions around. His ability to disrupt enemy teams and capitalize on control effects makes him invaluable at high-end play. Sometimes, all it takes is the right gear to unlock a champion’s full potential.

Rotos the Lost Groom: A Veteran Reborn

Rotos the Lost Groom

Rotos has always been strong, but he suffered during the reign of Ultimate Death Knight and Harima, two of his hardest counters. As these champions become less common, Rotos is finding more opportunities to shine.

The introduction of nine-piece Merciless and relics like Aspect of Siroth make him even more dangerous, allowing him to chain turns and reset his cooldowns for back-to-back nukes. His ability to snowball once he gets going is as threatening as ever.

Sir Nicholas: Mediocre Alone, Great With Noel

Sir Nicholas

Sir Nicholas hasn’t had a stellar reputation in recent years. His kit feels dated, and he lacks the raw utility or damage of more modern champions. But pair him with Lady Noelle, and suddenly he becomes a serious threat.

Thanks to her ability to activate his unkillable skill and his effectiveness in nine-piece Protection gear, Sir Nicholas turns into a persistent tank that’s incredibly hard to remove. It’s a niche combo, but one that’s surprisingly effective in Live Arena if used well.

Packmaster Shy’ek: Waiting on Destiny

The promise of Packmaster Shy’ek has always hinged on one thing: his synergy with “hound” champions, which Plarium hinted would be added in future updates.

His passive applies Hex when attacked and causes enemies under his Hex to take 20% more damage, a powerful and often misunderstood effect. Even without hound synergies, this makes him a viable damage amplifier in the right comps. And when the hounds do eventually arrive? He could very well become a staple in multiple areas of the game.

Final Thoughts

These champions remind us that the meta is fluid and that today’s benchwarmer might be tomorrow’s MVP. Whether through a lucky gear update, the release of a synergistic teammate, or a meta shift, these resurgent heroes prove that you should never count a champion out for good.
