Raid Shadow Legends – Who are the best Clan Boss Poisoners?

Poison is by far the most reliable form of damage for your clan boss teams, and there are some amazing options for who you can use to fill this role in your team, and the answer varies depending on your teams setup – in this article we’ll take a dive into who are THE best poisoners in terms of damage potential, and why/where you should slot them into your team for the best results!

Uncommon:

Outlaw Monk – Outlaw Monk is a free champion who can really help in early game clan boss, especially if you didn’t pick Kael as your starter champion and lack poison, his A2 places 2 poisons on a 3 turn cooldown once booked, however, he will fall over very quickly due to his base stats being so poor – you will have a hard time keeping him alive as you get further.

Rares:

Kael – One of the free starting champions, bringing poisons on his a3 as well as the weak version of poison on his A1 make Kael very valuable early-mid game until you get better options, he is an incredibly good champion and will be in your team for a significant amount of time unless you find yourself very lucky early on!

Hyria – Hyria has the potential of placing 3 poisons on a 4 turn cooldown on her A2, however, they are low chance to place, with only 45% per hit, making her less desirable than a lot of early game options for poison, however, she also brings an ally attack on her A3 with 2 allies, which can bring extra damage to your team, overall she could see some use the early game, but will drop off fairly early on as you get better options.

Frozen Banshee – Frozen Banshee is one of the best options, in terms of raw poison damage, bringing 25% poison sensitivity and an A1 that applies 2 poisons, she can really stack the debuff bar with poisons for your team. However, if her A3 resists (3% chance even with enough accuracy!) she will be unable to land a single poison for 3 turns, which really can drop your damage. But she is an absolutely incredibly poisoner and sees use in lots of end-game teams, she is best used with a counter-attack to allow her to truly maximize her debuff uptimes.

Gravechill Killer – Gravechill is a very good rare, who is only really used alongside Frozen Banshee, she brings 60% decrease DEF providing the target is under poison sensitivity debuff, and also helps to fill the targets debuff bar. Very strong duo.

Tigersoul – Tigersoul was a champion added during the 2020 Christmas Fusion, that was widely available from multiple events, meaning she is a very free to play friendly option for an early game clan boss poisoner, she brings a 5% poison on her A1 ability, and also a 15% weaken on her A2. Her base DEF is nothing to be joked about for a rare attack based champion. She will gain a lot of value if paired with a counter-attack or ally attack champion, but wouldn’t be considered better than other options such as Frozen Banshee.

Avir the Alchemage – Avir, just like Tigersoul is very commonly owned, he was added during the Vergumkaar fusion so lots of players will have access to him. However he is not viable for being your main poisoner, he does bring poisons on his A1 as well as bringing a lot of support with a decreased attack on his A2, and a heal on his A3 – However his A3 does also boost your teams turn meters, so he would be hard to fit into a tuned clan boss team.

Epics:

Aothar – Aothar is very good poisoner, and one of few Force affinity options, which makes him very desirable in Budget Unkillable teams as the slow-boi for Spirit affinity, but more so than that, his A2 can really push a decent amount of poisons out, 4 poisons every clan boss cycle is very strong for a champion who doesn’t provide an A1 poison.

Taurus – Just like Aothar, Taurus can really place a significant amount of poisons, and can really help your teams damage, he is fairly commonly used as the stun target in Roschcard Unkillable teams due to hit unkillable buff he places on himself on his poison A3. Taurus is more commonly seen used in dungeons, however, with poison combusting champions, such as Zavia and Elenaril for speedrunning dungeons to nuke waves and bosses.

Erinyes – Erinyes has the ability to place a single poison on her A1 for 2 turns, with 100% chance once booked, but can also extend all debuffs on the target every 4 turns with her A2, However, she is not widely seen in early-mid game clan boss teams due to the fact she is one of the 4 required epics for the Rhazin Scarhide fusion, She has great potential for helping you if you are lacking other options, but she is not one of the better options as a clan boss poisoner, however, she would gain value in a counter-attack/ally attack setting due to her A1 poison application.

Fayne – Everybody had a chance to get Fayne as part of the Vergumkaar Fusion, she is a great champion however due to her base stats she is very hard to keep alive outside of unkillable clan boss, at later stages – the fact that she brings poisons on her A2 AND 60% Defense down and 25% Weaken on her A3 make her incredibly desirable in clan boss, much like Dracomorph, Fayne is capable of being part of a 1 key Ultra Nightmare team, most notably in the Bateater team, for people who do not have access to a Dracomorph. She is incredibly good and worth investing in if you are able to fit her into a team where you can keep her alive.

Occult Brawler – OB is considered to be one of the best raw output poisoners in the game, he can easily fill a debuff bar himself, due to both an A1 and a passive poison application every turn, his Base Defense is low, his base HP is relatively high. He is actually less valuable when you book him, IF you reduce the cooldown of his A2, as on clan boss you would ideally have him consistently using his A1 to keep poisons stacked up. He is a truly great champion and as previously said, one of the BEST raw poisoners in the game.

Steelskull – Steelskull used to be widely considered the go-to poisoner but nowadays is considered more of a supporting champion with poison utility, due to his AOE Heal and increase defence and single target cleanse. He still brings a lot of use in a clan boss team, but he simply can’t keep up with other poisoners.

Aox the Rememberer – Just like Steelskull, Aox doesn’t bring enough poisons to be considered your primary poisoner, however, he does also bring other utility, with his team heal. He also can bring a consistent attack down with his A3 once booked but would need to be tuned to assure it is active for both AOEs and not the stun.

Legendaries:

BEK – Bad-El-Kazar is an incredibly good champion for clan boss, however in terms of poison output he doesn’t bring enough to be a solo poisoner, he does bring a huge amount of utility with his healing, and ability to cleanse the stun every rotation, and his passive 20% damage boost to targets under poison can help compensate for the lack of poisons, however, he is best paired in a team with another poisoner.

Dracomorph – Draco is a complete MVP of clan boss, not only does he bring consistent poisons, but he also brings both 60% Decrease Defense and 25% Weaken on the same ability, meaning he fills 2 roles in your clan boss team. In terms of poison output, he does not bring as much as some other options, but when accounting for his general utility and output, he is considered as one of if not THE best choices for your clan boss team.

Nethril – Due to Nethril’s recent AI fix, he no longer uses his A2 or A3 on Clan boss, meaning he was continuously stack poisons with his 3 hit A1 ability, since the changes he has the potential to be the best pure poison champion in the game for clan boss, in terms of pure poison output potential.

Tomb Lord – Tomb lord isn’t a very commonly used champion in clan boss, he’s great in other areas, however his poisons on his A2 only last 1 turn so his uptime isn’t nearly close to most poisoners, he also doesn’t gain any benefit from ally attack or counter-attack in terms of his output – he does, however, place attack down and defence down, but not reliably enough to be the only source. He is also a very large book investment.

Venus – Much like Draco, Venus brings huge utility as she not only provides poisons, she also provides 60% Decrease Defense and 25% Weaken on the same ability, so she fills 2 roles in your clan boss team, however, she also brings HP burn, which currently due to her AI changes she is prioritising over her Defense down and Weaken ability, she does however due to her A1 poison ability gain benefit from both counter-attacks and ally attack abilities, which can help enhance her ability to land poisons. She remains an incredibly strong choice for clan boss due to her ability to cover multiple roles.

Zavia – Until very recently, Zavia was not viable in clan boss unless used on manual due to her ability to explode all poison stacks on the target, which vs the clan boss was a complete waste due to the damage scaling. Now she will not do this, so she will just continuously land poisons from her A2 and A1 ability. She is a strong option, but she doesn’t bring more than various other options, she is just raw poison damage – she could have a strong place in unkillable setups.

Richtoff The Bold – Richtoff isn’t the greatest clan boss poisoner available, he provides 3x 5% poisons for every clan boss rotation, which is underwhelming compared to other available options in the category – he can still be strong if you do not have a better option, however, he gains no benefit from counter-attack or ally attack abilities, and provides no extra utility in your team. Overall he’s a fairly decent option but should only really be considered if you are limited on other options, especially if you are limited for options on force affinity due to using Frozen Banshee for example as your main poisoner – he may be worth changing to just for the affinity.

Narma the Returned – Narma is a fairly new legendary, released in the later parts of 2020, and she is definitely designed for clan boss, her A1 has the chance to increase the duration of 3 random debuffs on the target, which can really help to keep uptime on debuffs, especially poisons – however, she is not as impactful for this as other champions like Vizier for example. She also provides a 50% decrease attack with full uptime once booked. In terms of poisons, Narma brings 3 poisons and a poison sensitivity on her A3 on a 4 turn cooldown – she is a great option for many clan boss teams, as her value spikes with a counter-attack or ally attack as it will help her increase more debuff durations.

So, how do these fit into teams is probably the best question to ask.

If you are running an unkillable team, depending on your setup you will have 1-3 DPS slots in your team, in those spots you will want to fill a few vital roles, poisons, 60% decrease defence and 25% weaken.

In all of these scenarios, champions like Dracomorph, Venus and Fayne provide a huge amount of utility for you as they cover all of these jobs themselves, Fayne is the weaker option here due to the number of poisons she brings, you might want to support her with another poisoner, or in a Bateater team for example where she is the only DPS slot – toxic sets will provide significant damage boosts for you. If you don’t have these champions and your unkillable team allows for multiple DPS spots, you should aim to bring in somebody like Rhazin who can debuff the boss, and then fill your poisons with a raw poison damage champion, such as Frozen Banshee, Nethril, Occult Brawler.

In a counter setup, certain champions like Draco and Venus will still shine, due to them filling multiple roles, but without them there are champions who do scale more from having a counter-attack buff, when it comes to landing poisons, champions who place poisons with their A1 ability like Frozen Banshee as an example, gain significant value when you can counter-attack as they can fill the debuff bar with nearly 100% uptime.

You are missing one of the strongest poisoners in the game right now in terms of raw damage output- Kavalax. He out-damages Dracomorph by a long shot. However, Dracomorph still brings more utility to the table…
