The Best Hydra Teams From HH Gaming Before The Rework!
The Hydra Clan Boss is one of the most creative game modes in Raid: Shadow Legends, with countless champion combinations capable of taking down the mighty serpents. With Hydra Clash and personal rewards now in play, optimizing your teams has become more important than ever, and the rebalance has players looking for new team ideas. In this article, we’ll showcase the teams used by the HH Gaming crew to tackle Nightmare difficulty before the rework, along with a brief explanation of why these setups were so effective against the Hydra.
HELL HADES TEAM

Hell Hades recently teamed up with Bronko to build a Wixwell/Yannica based team that scored over 5 billion Clash points against the Hydra. The team relied on a Taunt loop to ensure no allies were digested throughout the battle. The strategy also worked around Wixwell increasing the value of shields, then allowing the Head of Mischief to steal and spread that massive shield later in the fight. Yannica then capitalized on this by removing the Shields while under Veil or Perfect Veil, dealing extra damage equal to 15% of the removed shield’s value. Due to the massive shield that had been stacked, stolen, and spread, the resulting damage became substantial, and many players relied on this strategy to maximize their Hydra Clash points.
However, with the upcoming changes to Hydra, Taunt will no longer prevent digestion, making this team ineffective. Additionally, the cap on Shield growth means Yannica can no longer inflict the same level of damage, essentially putting an end to this team’s viability. Hell Hades is now shifting focus towards forming a team with Teox and Ieyasu after the rebalance, hoping to dominate the Hydra with some of the new Meta champions!
SAPHYRRA’S TEAM

Saph is well known for pushing the limits of his roster by experimenting with new teams, and right now, he’s using a team with no Block Buffs – which is insane knowing he’s taking on hardest Hydra difficulty. He pulls this off with Sulfuryion, who bypasses the Poison Cloud mechanics by applying HP Burns on enemies, allowing allies to hit them without weak hits. Marius and Lady Mikage help by reducing the duration of enemy buffs, while Michinaki removes them entirely. Marius leads as the main damage dealer, using a triple hit Enemy Max HP nuke to wipe out heads regularly, while Michinaki, another strong DPS, pairs perfectly with Lady Mikage due to their Shadowkin synergy for additional attacks. Michinaki also places Hex and HP Burn effects to further push the team’s damage!
For countering the Head of Torment, Saph relies on Inquisitor Shamael, whose passive instantly clears Fear from allies while boosting the leader’s Turn Meter to keep the team cycling turns. Shamael also contributes solid damage, whether it’s freeing allies from digestion or attacking decapitated heads. Eostrid provides excellent support by applying Decrease Speed and Weaken, which pairs perfectly with Michinaki’s Decrease Defence, and boosts allies’ Speed and Turn Meter. Sulfuryion rounds out the team with powerful revives, heals, and shields, and his Turn Meter boosts ensure the team keeps those Hydra heads under pressure throughout the fight! He’s currently dealing between 1-1.2 billion damage with this team, and hopes it will continue to perform well even after the upcoming rebalance.
YST’S TEAM

YST’s team was designed to counter every key mechanic of the Hydra, and he’s optimistic it will still perform well after the rework. Firrol The Barkhorn is a standout, bringing Block Buffs, Decrease Accuracy, Increase Resistance, Perfect Veil, and a passive that boosts ally stats and damage. These abilities prevent the Hydra heads from placing or stealing effects, counter the Head of Torment, and reduce the resistance needed to block Hydra debuffs, all while delivering an insane damage boost when built in a protection set. Galleus handles Decay with a 2-turn Provoke, Increase Defence for Harima and Michinaki, Revive on Death for bad moments, and enemy Max HP nukes when he counterattacks.
Lady Mikage works great with this team, enabling the Shadowkin DPS champions to join in on attacks, both of which have high multipliers on their A1. She also brings Ally Attacks for optimal damage and manipulates buff durations. Harima is the team’s primary damage dealer, scaling heavily over the course of the battle, with her 6-star Crushing Rend making her hits even more powerful. She doubles as a secondary Provoker when Galleus is consumed, keeping the strategy consistent. Michinaki places Hex and HP Burns to boost the teams damage further, while Eostrid plays the role of speed manipulator, increasing ally speed and slowing down the Hydra heads. YST’s personal record for this team was 1.21 Billion damage dealt!
NUB RAIDS TEAM
Nub Raids unleashed some Meta champions on the Hydra with his Nightmare squad, covering all key effects to keep the heads in check. The standout damage dealer is Ninja, thanks to his scaling passive, instant burn detonations, and synergy with Lady Mikage for team up attacks. Androc was an interesting pick, primarily for his ability to make use of Protection gear with multiple buffs to boost the team’s damage. His passive also provides Turn Meter boosts, while his healing and buff extensions keep critical effects active longer. Othorion strikes a balance between damage and debuffs, dealing Enemy Max HP nukes, applying Block Buffs and Decrease Attack to minimize incoming damage and block enemy effects. He also self buffs with Increase Accuracy to land debuffs and Increase Attack for more damage output.
Krisk brings strong all around support, placing Provokes on the Head of Decay, and Ally Protection, Heals, Increase/Decrease Speed, and extends buffs. His passive places Decrease Defence and Attack on enemies when hit, and he’s equipped with a Cursed set to ensure Hex is applied to the Hydra Heads. Varl pairs well with Krisk’s Decrease Defence by placing Weaken, and his passive ramps up his Attack, leading to bigger nukes as the fight progresses. Finally, like many of the HH Gaming teams, Lady Mikage plays a pivotal role by enabling Ally Attacks against both live and decapitated heads.
NEVA’S TEAM
Neva opted for the dynamic duo of Taras and Marichka in his squad, alongside some other top tier options to push the damage numbers. Taras is a powerful HP-based damage dealer, capable of inflicting huge hits, while Marichka provides strong support with heals, cleansing, Buffs, Turn Meter fills, and a passive that revives allies if she’s killed. She also enables Taras to join her attacks through her A1. Michinaki plays a key role as well, applying Hex, Decrease Attack, and Decrease Defence to the Hydra Heads, while also placing Burns and dealing significant damage. Martyr is used for Counterattack, which can be highly effective as long as the buffs aren’t stolen. She also controls the Head of Decay with her Provoke.
To block Hydra’s buffs, Neva picked Tuhanarak, who places Block Buffs on a single target and spreads 2 random debuffs to all enemies. Tuhanarak is also an excellent choice for Increase Speed and offers passive debuff removal, which helps counter heads like Torment. Krisk rounds out the team’s support by placing Provokes on the Head of Decay, and provides Ally Protection, heals, Speed manipulation, and buff extensions. Neva is always looking for ways to improve the team but is holding off on big changes until after the rebalance.
