Assassin’s Creed Event Dungeon – Quick Tips

The new Event Dungeon has arrived alongside the surprising Assassin’s Creed collab in RAID: Shadow Legends, so in this guide we’re going to give you some quick tips for how to take on this new challenge against the evil Pontiff Augustin boss fight.

This Event Dungeon ties in directly to the quests for the Creed Coalition Event, is the only way to get Chronophage gear, and is one of the sources (through “Challenge” stages and likely some events/tournaments) of the new Wings of Winter relics.

Stay tuned for our in-depth guide on the Event Dungeon (including how to beat the 5 brand new “Challenge” stages), coming later this week!

HOW TO BEAT THE BOSS (PONTIFF AUGUSTIN)

Pontiff_Augustin_skills

Pontiff Augustin is a powerful support champion who brings a huge amount of anti-buff abilities, while buffing his own teams capabilities.

LACK OF DAMAGE

One of the key weaknesses of this boss is that he only has one ability which deals damage–and it’s very weak. This means that if you can kill off his minions, it will become almost impossible to lose this fight!

BUFFS ARE PUNISHED

Watch out for Augustin’s passive, which will reduce your buff durations by 1 turn whenever you receive a buff, are healed, or have your Turn Meter increased. You can counter this by:

  1. Avoiding buffs and effects, unless they’re absolutely essential (e.g. bring only Increase ATK if using ATK damage dealers).
  2. Using Protection sets to protect your buffs.
  3. Building high RES or using Increase RES and Decrease ACC (not really recommended: Augustin takes an Extra Turn on his A3, so he can outrun debuffs; he also provides Increase ACC buffs to his team, so you would need to prevent that with Block Buffs).

Augustin will also Remove Buffs with his A2. This is difficult to prevent, due to his high ACC stats and his Increase ACC buff. His Ensnare debuff will prevent you from gaining any Turn Meter from Increase Turn Meter effects.

If you are not relying on buffs or turn meter boosts in the first place, this is not a big deal.

BOOSTING HIS TEAM

The other key aspect of Augustin is his Turn Meter Manipulation and his Intercept buff.

Make sure to build your team to be faster than him, since he boosts his team by 25% Turn Meter on his A3, then gets an Extra Turn and reduces your Turn Meter by 25%–or 40% if your champions have 3 or more buffs. This will basically ensure that his team will all follow up directly after him.

He also provides the Intercept buff to his team on his A3

Finally, note that Augustin can prevent CC with Intercept, but he cannot remove CC effects (or any debuffs for that matter) that have already happened.

YOUR STRATEGY TO BEAT HIM

Augustin is incredibly effective at preventing you from using buffs or tm boosts and at boosting his own team to attack directly after his A3/A2 combo… But not much else.

The key to defeating him is to be faster than him and to control or kill his team before he can boost them into attacking you.

Although he is very strong against buffs, he is very weak to debuffs, so build a team with plenty of offensive debuffs, plenty of damage, and a small amount of healing, and you should be able to quickly wipe out his minions then wear him down when he poses little threat on his own.

FACING THE MINIONS ON EACH STAGE

Check our Raid Stages Tool to see each set of minions for each difficulty.

STAGES 1-19

On lower difficulties Augustin will have no minions, or only 2 minions, making the fight incredibly easy!

Once you hit Stage 11, he will have 4 minions from then on. The top priority in this fight is to kill his minions.

  • Debuffs such as Decrease DEF and Weaken are key to killing them quickly.
  • Use only essential offensive buffs like Increase ATK since his passive will reduce buff durations to 0 before your damage dealers take a turn if you bring too many.
  • Crowd Control abilities like Stun are very useful on these lower stages if you land them before the boss places Intercept, since he has no ability to remove them.

STAGE 20 TIPS

On stage 20 Augustin has 211 SPD, so you will want to be faster than this to kill his minions. If not, Augustin will boost, then Thylessia will apply Decrease DEF, followed up by Ally Attack from Lady Etessa and tons of AoE damage from the Sinesha/Skullcrown duo.

  • Most enemies here are Force affinity, so bring Void, Force, or Spirit affinity and avoid Magic affinity.
  • Skullcrown will get Unkillable when she drops low on life. Use Block Buffs to prevent it if you cannot survive the hit, or Remove Buffs to remove it, then finish her off.
  • Skullcrown will revive herself the first time she is killed, but she will have no Turn Meter so simply kill her again.

STAGES 21-29

On these stages you start fighting legendary enemies, which is a big step up in terms of difficulty.

For 21-25, Crowd Control (before Augustin places Intercept) or Increasing Skill Cooldowns will be very effective. Shemnath can Remove Buffs, Artor can Revive, Giath can buf with Increase RES, etc. so you really don’t want to let them ever take a turn.

Stage 26 onwards is much more difficult again due to Wight Queen Ankora. Her passive will prevent redirect crowd control from Narses to her, and she will automatically break free of CC at the start of her turn. She can also Remove Debuffs from her team, and brings a Revive which resets cooldowns too.

  • Block Passive Skills can counter Ankora redirecting and Removing debuffs.
  • Block Active Skills can stop her Removing Debuffs or Reviving.

From Stage 28 onwards you will be facing Hegemon and K’leth alongside the Wight duo.

  • Hegemon has high ACC and can place Block Active Skills, so you will need gear like Stoneskin, or a high-SPD Debuff Remover.
  • K’leth can trigger Instant Turns with his passive, so avoid hitting him as much as possible.

STAGE 30 TIPS

The final farmable stage features the same enemies and effects as stage 28 onwards, with simply more stats.

  • Augustin has 291 SPD
  • You will need at least 500 ACC on your debuffers.
  • You will need 600+ RES to reliably resist effects.

You will want a high SPD debuff remover or Stoneskin on everyone to protect from Hegemon (or a Niamhe). A debuffer who does not hit K’leth is ideal (or he can trigger an Instant Turn and reset all your Turn Meters). Although the boss takes limited damage from Enemy MAX HP damage, the minions have no such protection: use a champion like Marius or Seer to wipe them out ASAP. Or consider Wukong/Siegfrund splash damage!

SAMPLE TEAMS

Here are some sample teams for a few different stages of the dungeon. Check out our HellHades Optimiser Tool to find out the best teams for any stage of the dungeon based off of the champions that you own!

STAGE 20 TEAM

The team I used here was:

  1. Geomancer
  2. Uugo
  3. Fahrakin the Fat
  4. Skullcrown
  5. Sinesha

I think it’s a lovely irony turning Augustin’s team comp back on himself. Geomancer can solo the boss if everything goes wrong, but the key strategy is simply to place Decrease DEF on the enemy team, then follow up with a “Blender” Ally Attack–in this case, Fahrakin throwing in the attacks from Skullcrown and Sinesha.

You can replace everyone on this team: the key concept is simply “Debuff, then deal lots of AoE damage”. Ezio should crush this stage.

NUB’S STAGE 30 TEAM

The big adjustment for the final stages is to bring champions geared in Stoneskin to survive Hegemon (I have no fast cleansers built, shockingly). Fabian and Karnage are both incredible options for locking down the minions is a way that Ankora and Augustin can’t really deal with.

The team I’m using here is:

  1. Lord Entertainer Fabian
  2. Krisk the Ageless
  3. Marius the Gallant
  4. Karnage the Anarch
  5. Wight Queen Ankora

My first team for farming stage 30 is a little slow, but very safe. Marius and Karnage are both top damage dealers, but also happened to already be geared in Stoneskin. Karnage is great for spreading Block Passives and Actives amongst the enemy, making it a very safe run. Ankora keep us healthy just in case, and Krisk provides CC and even more safety.

In future, I’ll be looking to bring in some rebuilt champions specifically tailored to beating this stage, such as Sun Wukong or Seer!
