Nub’s Mythical Champion Tier List – Raid: Shadow Legends
Hey everyone, Nubkeks here! Today I’m sharing my personal rankings of the best and worth mythicals in Raid: Shadow Legends.
Some short-mid term things which might change up this tier list are the new Feral and Pinpoint sets which give speed, accuracy, and a 50% chance to stop polymorph or Intercept stacks respectively. If these sets reduce the prevalence of Polymorph on arena champions, then we could see bomb and debuff champs (and champs that support them) surge in power in PvP.
In the longer term, new or more difficult bosses could switch things up as well… But for now, let’s dive into my rankings for August 2024!
S+ Tier: Siegfrund, Galathir, Krixia, Mikage
Siegfund the Nephilim
Siegfrund received an absolutely massive buff a while ago that shot him up to the top of my rankings. His insane damage output lets him speed farm most dungeons in seconds, and one-shot even tanky arena teams with ease. On top of this he has a cheat death mechanic and an automatic metamorph with a full team revive and 2 turns of Block Damage… He’s insane!
Starsage Galathir
Galathir is the best arena champion in the game in my opinion, though his strengths are not needed in most other content. In his base form he’s an extremely tanky reviver and cleanser with a cheat death mechanic; in his second form he becomes the most dangerous crowd control champion in the game. A lot of people will say that the only way to counter Galathir is to pray he gets polymorphed… Scary stuff!
Night Queen Krixia
Krixia might actually fall off in value in my eyes in the future, since her ability to lockout champions will become less useful as better mythicals are added to the game (mythicals can simply metamorph if locked out). She’s a monster right now though, bringing buff strips and lockout in form 1 and team cleansing and cooldown resets in form 2. Being able to metamorph and reset is also a huge counter to other lockout champions.
Lady Mikage
Who would’ve thought that the permanent fusion mythical would be so strong? I rate Mikage so highly because she is so strong in multiple areas of the game: she’s incredible in Hydra, Fire Knight, and most other bosses as the best ally attack champion in the game and she’s powerful in both forms in arena as well. Plarium did a good thing when they made Mikage a fusion.
S Tier: Alaz, Toshiro, Lazarius, Gizmak
Alaz the Sunbearer
Alaz is the hardest hitting defensive damage dealer in the game in his first form. On top of this he brings a 3-turn cd block damage and counter-attack buff for your entire team (plus a 2 turn provoke… Hello Hydra!). His only downside is that his alternate form is not particularly useful, though the strength of his main form carries him to the top of S tier in my opinion.
Toshiro the Bloody
Say hello to the best Clan Boss and Hydra champion in the game… After Trunda of course! The easiest way to explain Toshiro is “Mythical Ninja”: he can scale up to 100% bonus in both HP and ATK, and simply outputs incredible damage. He also synergizes very well with Lady Mikage as a shadowkin. Toshiro could shoot up the tier list in the future if more clan bosses are added or if Trunda is nerfed for Hydra.
Hierophant Lazarius
Lazarius is an incredible support in his base form and a self-buffing damage dealer with lockout in his alternate form. There are a couple of interesting ways to build Lazarius, from a damage build with 4-piece stoneskin to make him an alt form threat in arena, to a pure base form support in 9-piece protection gear. It’s hard to make full use of both forms at the same time, but he’s going to be fantastic for both arena and hydra either way. In the long term, I think his base form is better… But time will tell.
Gizmak the Terrible
I think Gizmak is the most underrated mythical in the game. In his base form he can blast stoneskin off enemy teams thanks to his HP Burn explosion and his alternate form is a monstrously strong damage dealer. The only real weakness for Gizmak is polymorph—though that’s a pretty big weakness. If polymorph becomes less common, Gizmak could shoot up the tier list.
S- Tier: Komidus, Gharol, Arbais
Komidus Darksmile
Komidus is a very new mythical and, to be honest, I haven’t seen enough gameplay from him to be certain that this is the right spot for him. In his base form he is an incredibly powerful crowd control champion, and his second form brings bombs to counter enemy teams that are decked out in stoneskin gear. My main concerns with Komidus are polymorph and getting his bombs to hit hard enough, though the new Pinpoint and Feral gear sets are going to be a huge buff to him.
Gharol Bloodmaul
One of the OG mythicals, Gharol is a fantastic AoE damage dealer in her second form. Her base form isn’t particularly useful to be honest and is often neglected to build her entirely for form 2. Gharol does a ton of damage and has a Leorius style passive, plus a chance to ally attack whenever anyone on your team attacks. I do think the higher rated mythicals are more well-rounded or useful damage dealers overall, but Gharol is always a threat.
Arbais the Stonethorn
Arbais is the best designed of the 5 OG mythical champions in my opinion. She’s a fantastic support in form 1 and could see a real surge of value in Siege thanks to her speed aura and buffs for debuffing teams thanks to the new Pinpoint and Feral gear sets. Nobody boosts bombs better than Arbais. In form 2 she’s a good counter to single target enemies thanks to her taunt and stoneskin buffs. She’s a perfect mythical in my mind: not OP; not UP; just very good in both of her forms with a couple of strong niches.
A Tier: Nais, Karnage, Androc
Nais the Shadowthief
Nais is a weird one. When everything goes well it can feel like he is an unstoppable monster in arena in his second form thanks to his crazy passive stat gains. His block revive and turn meter stealing in form 1 are good too. I was sceptical after playtesting Nais myself but seeing him crop up in the top Platinum arena defences shows that he is a force to be reckoned with. I think he’s decent for bosses as well thanks to his base form damage scaling but he’s nothing spectacular compared to champs like Siegfrund or Toshiro.
Karnage the Anarch
Karnage is a guaranteed mythical from the Cursed City and while he’s nowhere near as useful as Mikage in my opinion, he could still find some niche uses for most players. He’s a great damage dealer in general, particularly in Hydra, and he has one of the most reliable sources of Block Passive Skills and Block Active Skills in the game for the arena. He has the best arena speed aura in the game as well and I expect him to see more use if polymorph does become less popular.
Androc the Glorious
Androc is a fantastic champion if you need a lot of survivability in your team and if you can gear him in 9-piece protection. Right now, this means he’s basically a form 1 Hydra specialist and that’s it, which limits his usefulness. If new or more difficult bosses are added in the future, Androc could shine as an amazing support. His alternate form is a disappointment in my opinion and is the only mythical so far to have been nerfed, with all bosses getting buffed with immunity to Enfeeble after Androc started smashing them. Hopefully his second form can get some buffs in the future to make up for this.
B Tier: Mezomel, Frolni, Aphidus
Mezomel Luperfang
Mezomel is a fairly straightforward damage dealer: in form 1 she has good single target damage and block revive; in form 2 she has good AoE damage and True Fear. Her damage is decent but she lags far behind the mythicals at the top of the tier list. Nonetheless, block revive is always useful to have which makes Mezomel worth building for the niche fights where it can shine.
Frolni the Mechanist
Frolni is another straightforward damage dealer in his base form, bringing very basic skills but a very strong passive if he can secure kills. His damage multipliers are quite low, which means that he really needs to start stacking his passive to do good damage. His second form is also pretty disappointing in my opinion and doesn’t do enough with its skills to make it worth using. He’s a good damage dealer, but more similar to the power level of a void legendary than a mythical.
Aphidus the Hivelord
People often say that Aphidus is the worst mythical in the game but I disagree: he’s not great, but he’s not quite the worst either. He brings good damage for Spider or Hydra in his base form and he’s actually quite a powerful crowd control champion in his alternate form. The main problem with Aphidus is that his stats don’t transfer well between forms, meaning that to build him well for base form makes his alternate form underpowered and vice versa. I think he has good potential as an alternate form CC champion… And he definitely has massive potential to be buffed in the future.
C Tier: Calamitus, Galleus, Ash’nar
The Calamitus
Calamitus had the unfortunate fate to be a Hydra specialist who was released alongside Toshiro… Quite an embarrassing situation, to be honest. Objectively speaking he’s quite a decent damage dealer for Hydra, just not as good as he should be. His base form specialises in single target damage, but simply isn’t useful for anything from what I can tell. I would use him if I had him, but I wouldn’t be happy about it.
Galleus Bloodcrest
This is going to hurt YST’s feelings since Galleus is one of his favourite champions, but I don’t think Galleus is very good. His second form is an underwhelming damage dealer, paling in comparison to other mythicals like Alaz. His base form is better, bringing good provokes and a counter-attack that can do Enemy Max HP damage. I find his utility to be a bit questionable and outclassed by voids like Krisk or Graazur. I could see Galleus thriving in the future if his counterattacks fit well against a new clan boss though.
Ash’nar Dragonsoul
The newest mythical in the game jumps straight to the bottom of the list in my opinion. In his alternate form Ash’nar is clearly supposed to be a powerful Hydra damage dealer. Unfortunately, despite the requirements of HP Burn on enemies, his damage is simply poor for a mythical, outclassed by former free login legendary Rathalos Blademaster. Needing HP burn on enemies also makes this extremely hard to use for arena. His base form might be a bit better but is also totally outclassed by Gizmak. His passives that turn HP Burns into heals is interesting, but not particularly useful in the current state of the game.
