Nub’s Faction Unity Champion Tier List
Hey everyone, Nubkeks here! With the big 10X Summon Rush for Faction Unity champions this week, I decided it was time to share my current rankings of the best and worst Faction Unity champions in Raid: Shadow Legends.
Generally, you would expect Faction Unity champions to have a huge impact on Siege, where there are many faction- and alliance-restricted post conditions (and Faction Wars, of course, for the same reason, though it’s much easier content right now). The best ones can also impact Hydra, Classic Arena, and potentially even more.
One thing to note is that the particular rankings for champions can vary wildly with the additions of meta-changing new gear sets to the game, such as Pinpoint to counter Polymorph, or champions, such as Thor, or even future game modes… So don’t lose hope if you (like me!) were lucky enough to get one of these rare champions only to find out that they’re on the weaker side… But without any further ado, let’s jump into my list!
S+ Tier
The S+ tier is a lofty one, signalling that these Faction Unity champions are the best of the best that the game has to offer. Expect these champions to radically change your account in multiple areas of the game and to push you towards massively prioritising their faction.
Legate Teox
Legate Teox is the best faction unity champion in the game and it’s not even close! Teox has insane personal damage with the correct team setup, boasting a whopping 16x attack multiplier on his AoE attack (for context, a 4x multiplier is the legendary standard). On top of this he brings Polymorph immunity for his team and a Block Revive attack to arena which makes full Lizardmen teams not only viable but top tier. He also brings an insanely powerful ally attack A1 to Hydra and other bosses (combo with with champions such as Toshiro or Ninja and watch heads fly).
Recommended team (Arena/Siege): Lazarius, Teox, Ramantu, Sulfuryion.
S TIER
The S tier represents fantastic Faction Unity champions that will radically change your account in one or two areas of the game but won’t be as broadly useful as champions in the S+ tier.
Fyna, Blade of Aravia
I think Fyna, Blade of Aravia is one of the most underrated champions in the game since she has shown her worth in Hydra time and time again. The main use for Fyna is to combo her with Trunda, since she can provide Trunda with 6 buffs (which is 30% boosted damage with a 9-piece protection set) and a full reset of her skills. You can build a High Elf team to unlock the extra defence ignore from Fyna’s passive, or simply go for a regular team instead. For those players who don’t have two Yumekos, Fyna is literally the next best option (this might change when we get our hands on Lamasu from Siege)!
Recommended team (Hydra): Trunda, Ithos, Incarnate, Vergis, Fyna, Eostrid.
A TIER
The A tier represents very strong Faction Unity champions that will hard carry in their teams, but with the limitation that these teams won’t be as strong in the more important endgame areas.
Acelin the Stalwart
Acelin the Stalwart was the first faction unity champion and has proven to be a bit of a disappointment overall. He brings solid defensive boosts to his teammates but is not powerful enough to dethrone champions such as Galathir or Siphi as the ideal partners to the dominating Taras and Marichka combo from the Banner Lords. His A2 can be detrimental as well, since he can easily rip off your team’s shields on auto when they don’t need healing, making them more vulnerable. His first use in the game, however, is in Siege, where he makes a formidable pairing with the Tarichka duo. He also features in a very powerful cheese team for Hydra, alongside Wixwell and Ironclad: you simply build up a massive shield with Wixwell, then Acelin rips it off to heal your team which triggers massive damage with Ironclad’s passive. Be warned that Plarium almost never nerfs champions, but rares are the exception to this rule (see Corpulent Cadaver and Madman for details…). If that team is every nerfed, expect Acelin to plummet down the tier list.
Recommended team (Hydra): Ironclad, Emic, Bambus, Nia, Acelin, Wixwell
Falmond Mournsword
Falmond Mournsword is a damage dealing machine, stacking up bonus damage and damage reduction (he can even become fully immune to damage) between each of his turns in battle. His A3 works like Sun Wukong or Siegfrund when he is with 3 other Sacred Order champions and can easily delete entire teams. I think the biggest drawback for Falmond is that he is totally overshadowed by Siegfrund in his faction, and a Sacred Order defence in Siege is a hard sell without him which is a huge limitation for the area of the game where Faction Unity champions are often most useful. Nonetheless, he can open up very powerful teams for you in Classic or Tag Team Arena and becomes extremely strong in Siege if you have Siegfrund to combo with him.
Recommended team (Arena/Siege): Cardiel, Siegfrund, Falmond, Maud
Bolint Freewalker
Bolint Freewalker is a crowd control machine in the arena, boasting a kit that almost rivals Armanz when paired with his Skinwalker allies. I think the new Pinpoint set pushes Bolint to the next level, helping him negate Polymorph which is his biggest weakness. His A3 is his big attack, bringing a buff strip and two chances to place a stun debuff, all while ignoring 50% resistance and boosting Bolint’s turn meter… It’s very, very powerful. He brings an AoE Decrease Defence debuff on top of this, helping to deal with any tanky enemies and making him more versatile. His passive is particularly good with champions such as Ukko or Marius. His only downside is that he doesn’t combo particularly well with either of the Mythicals in his faction.
Recommended team (Arena/Siege): Ukko, Bolint, Marius, Mezomel
B TIER
The remainder of the Faction Unity champions fall into the B tier. This tier represents either champions with good kits who aren’t useful in many areas, or champions who are very generally useful but aren’t quite as strong. Nonetheless, even a weaker faction unity champion can have a big impact on your account.
Dune Lord Greggor
Dogs are a man’s best friend; Dune Lord Greggor is Armanz’ best friend. Greggor’s greatest strength lies in powering up your Crowd Control Barbarians with the ability to cut through even the highest resistance enemies in the game; his greatest weakness is that Armanz can usually do this anyway even without him. He also brings the powerful ability to give an extra turn to your nuker. The Barbarian faction was fairly limited to Alaz in terms of top tier nukers until recently when Thor arrived in the game alongside the other Asgard Divide champions. For now, he mainly thrives in Siege, but this faction unity champion might climb my rankings in future when we see the impact that these Asgardians have on his best teams!
Recommended team (Arena/Siege): Armanz, Greggor, Alaz, Freyja
Vizug the Noxious
Although Vizug the Noxious is a great champion on paper, he is not well suited to the current metagame: he is not particularly strong in Hydra, nor is he built for Arena or Siege. He’s a great option against bosses with multiple enemies such as Spider or the Odin Event Dungeon, but he is often overshadowed by enemy max HP teams led by Marius or Gnut. I would expect Vizug to become more useful in the future whenever the levels for hard mode dungeons are increased–and he will be fantastic if you are lucky enough to get him on an account still progressing through the game–but he might sit in the vault for many end game players at the time of writing.
Recommended team (Spider Hard): Urogrim, Uugo, Vizug, Artak, Mithrala
